Creature Wednesday/Koala

Hello everyone well here we are at Wednesday again and so that means it is creature day and this weeks creature is not gross but cuddly, it is the koala.

The koala has a stout, tailless body with a large head and round fluffy ears and a spoon shape nose. The can be found on the east coast of Australia in Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria and South Australia.

They have a gestation period of 30-36days a baby is called a joey the same as a kangaroo, their weigh between 4-15kilos and have a lifespan of 13-18years.

They were first seen by white men in 1798, I wonder what they thought.

They only eat eucalyptus leaves and eat around 1 kilo or 2.5 pounds a day in fact they eat so much of them they often smell of eucalyptus.

Like humans they have fingerprints.

Unlike humans the baby will eat its mum's poo.

Lastly they are not bears

  2. They are cute and cuddly - did you see the video on one that got himself into a vehicle the other day, the A/C kept him cool apparently as the driver left the door open :)
