</p>
<p class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;"><span style="font-family: "Courier New", monospace;">It
has a coat of prickly quills over its body a nice pointy warning that
it's not going to be easy prey, the needle like spines lay flat until
it feels threatened when they pop up on command.</span></p>
<p class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;"><span style="font-family: "Courier New", monospace;">It
is considered the largest of its species at a length of 1 metre which
is 3.3feet and has more than 30,000 barbed quills. All naturally have
a sharp tip which is difficult to remove once in the skin of a
predator or silly human. All quills lost are soon replaced with a new
one.</span></p>

it is Monday and that means it is facts day with some how the hell do
they know that facts from The Great Book of Knowledge that I am using
for these posts. This is another book of Sam's that they no longer
want and was passed on to nana to use. </span>
</p>
<p class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;"><span style="color: #6600cc; font-family: "Courier New", monospace;">The
very first plant-like organisms appeared in the Earth's oceans around
3,500 million years ago. They used light from the Sun to make food
from water and carbon dioxide, releasing oxygen into the air as a
by-product. This process is called photosynthesis and was repeated
over millions of years until there was enough oxygen in the
atmosphere to support other forms of life.</span></p>
<p class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;"><span style="color: #660066; font-family: "Courier New", monospace;">Photosynthesis
is it appears bloody important as the survival of pretty much
everything depends on it, who knew, not me. This is because it plays
an important role in maintaining oxygen levels but it keeps the
plants we need for food healthy, didn't know that either.</span></p>
<p class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;"><span style="color: #007826; font-family: "Courier New", monospace;">Now
we all should know that all living things adapt to their environment
including plants just look at those plants that survive in the desert
like cacti they store large amounts of water in their broad stems and
have widespread root systems that are able to collect water from a
distance. Making them able to survive in those areas with very little
rainfall.</span></p>
<p class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;"><span style="color: maroon; font-family: "Courier New", monospace;">At
the other end of things we have plants like the arctic poppies which
grow very well in cold climates, on mountains and in dry river beds.
You can find them amongst stones which absorb heat from the Sun and
provide shelter for their roots, I didn't know that nor did I know
that their flowers continually turn to face the Sun as it makes its
way across the sky.</span></p>
<p class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;"><span style="font-family: "Courier New", monospace;">That
will do for this week next week we will look at how there is water
everywhere.</span></p>Jo-Anne's Ramblingshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11418152399382818709noreply@blogger.com9tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2372897564928472255.post-30817482630320415562024-03-17T12:29:00.002+11:002024-03-17T12:29:57.891+11:00Go see random things<p> <span style="font-family: courier;">There is a new post over at my other blog which can be found here: <a href="http://jamfn.blogspot.com/2024/03/passwords.html">http://jamfn.blogspot.com/2024/03/passwords.html</a></span></p>Jo-Anne's Ramblingshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11418152399382818709noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2372897564928472255.post-61139125974788913762024-03-17T07:49:00.000+11:002024-03-17T07:49:05.305+11:00Week 11 of 2024<p> </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEgvSmprVl4Hd3tcpE3lwtL9Y2rTd1gfVvRVSil4GI7FT1qWasdcSiOAKkLmc5-GKvksvq3P8ZPFpfvU78yJWpegrjQIAy9PXqhY_WzWAHct-QhLuRv6GJ8fserhHRPve6p_eZOu11MYianMZFZyGCK446_AF38WAdlbxlcwvrFyeFezQIAwFg-81HTvKKYV" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="" data-original-height="225" data-original-width="225" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEgvSmprVl4Hd3tcpE3lwtL9Y2rTd1gfVvRVSil4GI7FT1qWasdcSiOAKkLmc5-GKvksvq3P8ZPFpfvU78yJWpegrjQIAy9PXqhY_WzWAHct-QhLuRv6GJ8fserhHRPve6p_eZOu11MYianMZFZyGCK446_AF38WAdlbxlcwvrFyeFezQIAwFg-81HTvKKYV" width="240" /></a></div><br /><p></p><p class="western" lang="en-US" style="font-weight: normal; margin-bottom: 0cm;">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, monospace;"><span style="font-size: small;">Slept well woke with
the alarm in fact the alarm had been going for a bit before I
realised what it was. Temp of 19 degrees this morning. </span></span>
</p>
<p class="western" lang="en-US" style="font-weight: normal; margin-bottom: 0cm;"><span style="font-family: "Courier New", monospace;">No issues doing the
shopping which is good, I even manged to go back in and add Tim's
coffee.</span></p>
<p class="western" lang="en-US" style="font-weight: normal; margin-bottom: 0cm;"><span style="font-family: "Courier New", monospace;">Dawson came over to
of a photo album that was mum & dads, he was here for about 45
minutes.</span></p>
<p class="western" lang="en-US" style="font-weight: normal; margin-bottom: 0cm;"><span style="font-family: "Courier New", monospace;">At midday it was 26
degrees at midday and by 2pm it was 28 degrees.</span></p>
<p class="western" lang="en-US" style="font-weight: normal; margin-bottom: 0cm;"><span style="font-family: "Courier New", monospace;">Tim took me down to
the chemist.</span></p>
<p class="western" lang="en-US" style="font-weight: normal; margin-bottom: 0cm;"><span style="color: maroon; font-family: "Courier New", monospace;">Another
good night, I am getting use to these good nights ope I haven't
jinxed myself by saying that.</span></p>
<p class="western" lang="en-US" style="font-weight: normal; margin-bottom: 0cm;"><span style="color: maroon; font-family: "Courier New", monospace;">At
5am it was 23 degrees according to my phone and at 5.30am it had
dropped to 19 degrees. Is it any wonder that of a morning I can go
from shorts to three quarter length pants then back to shorts when it
warms up again.</span></p>
<p class="western" lang="en-US" style="font-weight: normal; margin-bottom: 0cm;"><span style="color: maroon; font-family: "Courier New", monospace;">I
am feeling restless today and can't be bothered trying to find
something for lunch.</span></p>
<p class="western" lang="en-US" style="font-weight: normal; margin-bottom: 0cm;"><span style="color: maroon; font-family: "Courier New", monospace;">It
27 degrees and I am drenched in sweat. However, I didn't ask for the
air con just stuck it out.</span></p>
<p class="western" lang="en-US" style="font-weight: normal; margin-bottom: 0cm;"><span style="color: maroon; font-family: "Courier New", monospace;">Jess
got called into work, stuff this 40hr week she often does more like
60hrs per week. At least she is earning good money.</span></p>
<p class="western" lang="en-US" style="font-weight: normal; margin-bottom: 0cm;"><span style="color: #0000cc; font-family: "Courier New", monospace;">Talk
about jinxing oneself last night I tossed and turned for a good hour
or more but when I did settle I slept well, waking only once to pee.</span></p>
<p class="western" lang="en-US" style="font-weight: normal; margin-bottom: 0cm;"><span style="color: #0000cc; font-family: "Courier New", monospace;">It
was 19 degrees at 5am and 17 degrees at 5.30am, we are in for another
bloody hot day.</span></p>
<p class="western" lang="en-US" style="font-weight: normal; margin-bottom: 0cm;"><span style="color: #0000cc; font-family: "Courier New", monospace;">When
the shopping came I couldn't help but notice that the paper bags it
was packed in are half the size they use to be.</span></p>
<p class="western" lang="en-US" style="font-weight: normal; margin-bottom: 0cm;"><span style="color: #0000cc; font-family: "Courier New", monospace;">By
11am it was 27 degrees, when it hit 30 degrees I turned the air con
on. Also after Tasha went off because it wasn't on and I was drenched
in sweat.</span></p>
<p class="western" lang="en-US" style="font-weight: normal; margin-bottom: 0cm;"><span style="color: #ff0066; font-family: "Courier New", monospace;">Had
another pretty good night, banana and custard for breakie. It is 19
degrees here 5.30am down form the 21 degrees it was at 5am and by 8am
it was back at 21 degrees.</span></p>
<p class="western" lang="en-US" style="font-weight: normal; margin-bottom: 0cm;"><span style="color: #ff0066; font-family: "Courier New", monospace;">The
cleaners came, Tim had the security camera set up in his office and
we caught one of the cleaners sitting in his office looking around
then she moved the camera with the feather duster so we couldn't see
what she was doing. Tim sent an email to his case worker at Youi to
complain and he is following it up, I do not want them back here.</span></p>
<p class="western" lang="en-US" style="font-weight: normal; margin-bottom: 0cm;"><span style="color: #009933; font-family: "Courier New", monospace;">KELLI'S
BIRTHDAY SHE IS NOW 30</span></p>
<p class="western" lang="en-US" style="font-weight: normal; margin-bottom: 0cm;">
<span style="color: #009933;"><span style="font-family: Courier New, monospace;"><span style="font-size: small;">Another
good night, only 17 degrees when I got up at 5am. I have spent 45
minutes getting the laptop to work it did an automatic update during
the night and I had to shut down and reboot before anything would
work, so frustrating. Another hot day with a temp of 33 degrees, yes
I have the air con on and yes I am drenched in sweat.</span></span></span></p>
<p class="western" lang="en-US" style="font-weight: normal; margin-bottom: 0cm;"><span style="color: #990066; font-family: "Courier New", monospace;">Had
a pretty good night took a little bit to fully settle last night but
once I did I was right and slept through to 3.15 when I needed to
pee, then back to bed and in a blink the alarm was going off.</span></p>
<p class="western" lang="en-US" style="font-weight: normal; margin-bottom: 0cm;"><span style="color: #990066; font-family: "Courier New", monospace;">Temp
of only 17 degrees at 5am and not suppose to get much hotter by
5.45am it was 21 degrees. Didn't get any hotter.</span></p>
<p class="western" lang="en-US" style="font-weight: normal; margin-bottom: 0cm;"><span style="color: #990066; font-family: "Courier New", monospace;">Tasha
sent Blain down with a basket of her cleaning cloths to be dried in
the dryer as it is raining.</span></p>
<p class="western" lang="en-US" style="font-weight: normal; margin-bottom: 0cm;"><span style="color: #990066; font-family: "Courier New", monospace;">Jess
just rang to tell me she got called into work and will not be home
till around 6.30pm.</span></p>
<p class="western" lang="en-US" style="font-weight: normal; margin-bottom: 0cm;"><span style="color: #990066; font-family: "Courier New", monospace;">It
has been raining on and off all day.</span></p>
<p class="western" lang="en-US" style="font-weight: normal; margin-bottom: 0cm;"><span style="font-family: "Courier New", monospace;">When I got up this
morning I opened the house up like I do every morning but by 5.45am I
had to close the doors due to being cold. Temp was 19 degrees but
felt colder.</span></p>
<p class="western" lang="en-US" style="font-weight: normal; margin-bottom: 0cm;"><span style="font-family: "Courier New", monospace;">Tasha asked me to
wake her at 9am which I will do. I walked up to Tasha's to wake her
up due to it raining.</span></p>
<p class="western" lang="en-US" style="font-weight: normal; margin-bottom: 0cm;"><span style="font-family: "Courier New", monospace;">The internet stopped
working at 6am I just have to wait for it to come good again.</span></p>
<p class="western" lang="en-US" style="font-weight: normal; margin-bottom: 0cm;"><span style="font-family: "Courier New", monospace;">Most
of the day has been fine with a temp of 23 degrees.</span></p>Jo-Anne's Ramblingshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11418152399382818709noreply@blogger.com10tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2372897564928472255.post-15378445638888511922024-03-15T08:20:00.000+11:002024-03-15T08:20:02.782+11:00Parkinston's Disease Pt 9<p> </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEiWD4y0XDPXzvqlCZPabwSqzsCcf1XjXt5Vrb-GN_M7mwQVnLodyUmCBpZAlYM0liIs5_SXFw8SgW8j9YPm2H2Z-6xgHehMsCTR7sLbbNN6po4RYES2xsv24bt4zRi3BRfT7SbmHDibvmYMYC8ffWj6gUPK3MUrAEA-udhuIDlW_W9xn3gPyIiEuTB1gyez" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="" data-original-height="185" data-original-width="272" height="218" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEiWD4y0XDPXzvqlCZPabwSqzsCcf1XjXt5Vrb-GN_M7mwQVnLodyUmCBpZAlYM0liIs5_SXFw8SgW8j9YPm2H2Z-6xgHehMsCTR7sLbbNN6po4RYES2xsv24bt4zRi3BRfT7SbmHDibvmYMYC8ffWj6gUPK3MUrAEA-udhuIDlW_W9xn3gPyIiEuTB1gyez" width="320" /></a></div><br /><p></p><p class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;"><span style="font-family: Courier New, monospace;">Ok
everyone I have spoken about the more major symptoms of Parkinson's
Disease but there is what can seem like a endless list of minor
symptoms. Listed here are just a few and I will explain more over the
next couple of weeks.</span></p>
<p class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;"><br />
</p>
<p class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;"><span style="font-family: Courier New, monospace;">These
include such things as tiredness which I suffer from with many days
needing to close my eyes for a 20-30 minute nap, depression which I
also suffer from and have done for years but there are times when
things start to get to me and causes me to feel like crying. Another
symptom is dribbling or drooling which I have a problem with some
nights. </span>
</p>
<p class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;"><br />
</p>
<p class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;"><span style="font-family: Courier New, monospace;">Thankfully
I don't have constipation or mental confusion, although my memory can
be shit at times I write a lot of small notes for myself which may or
may-not be connected to Parkinson's.</span></p>
<p class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;"><br />
</p>
<p class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;"><span style="font-family: Courier New, monospace;">It
can be difficult to know whether something is or isn't connected to
the Parkinson's. </span>
</p>
<p class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;"><br />
</p>
<p class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;"><span style="font-family: Courier New, monospace;">Let's
look first tiredness, most people do not know what real tiredness is,
it is however, common with Parkinson's and it is difficult to
understand and describe if you don't have the disease. </span>
</p>
<p class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;"><br />
</p>
<p class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;"><span style="font-family: Courier New, monospace;">Patients
with Parkinson's often feel that doing things take a great effort
compared to a normal person many tasks exhaust the suffer and even
having a rest doesn't relieve the feeling of exhaustion, as you would
expect it to.</span></p>
<p class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;"><br />
</p>
<p class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;"><span style="font-family: Courier New, monospace;">The
tiredness isn't just a physical thing but also a mental thing we feel
lethargic and have no real interest in doing stuff but doing simple
exercises and if possible going for a walk will help in the long run.
I don't go for a walk but I do do some simple exercises during the
day, to keep body flexible. </span>
</p>
<p class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;"><br />
</p>
<p class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;"><span style="font-family: Courier New, monospace;">Next
week we will talk about sleep issues.</span></p>Jo-Anne's Ramblingshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11418152399382818709noreply@blogger.com9tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2372897564928472255.post-64628990472909429932024-03-14T08:40:00.002+11:002024-03-14T08:40:44.540+11:00Working ife in the 1890's Australia<p> </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEg_5sthvgfY7m7VuOsdMhzqKnRwQtAneLiexbqZknHCTzfFQA8TQJdfeUxZKh9k23XwhcsDmhGf79cSXBRvj8sZcoC3m2mOqXNJfAlTRHLkbaZBk_dsghR5BTqDNwXVR73tiQG1A2MyQORbOD-WUPNW4vaeWjPOHl-a839MC8oeRT8OhV7JkaZxQ374dEn9" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="" data-original-height="270" data-original-width="186" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEg_5sthvgfY7m7VuOsdMhzqKnRwQtAneLiexbqZknHCTzfFQA8TQJdfeUxZKh9k23XwhcsDmhGf79cSXBRvj8sZcoC3m2mOqXNJfAlTRHLkbaZBk_dsghR5BTqDNwXVR73tiQG1A2MyQORbOD-WUPNW4vaeWjPOHl-a839MC8oeRT8OhV7JkaZxQ374dEn9" width="165" /></a></div><br /><p></p><p class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;"><span style="font-family: Courier New, monospace;">Damn
it is Thursday already, this week we are looking at shearing in the
1890's. Shearing underwent many tribulations and changes during this
period, as well as the exhausting work and the strikes and in 1894
new machinery was introduced.</span></p>
<p class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;"><br />
</p>
<p class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;"><span style="font-family: Courier New, monospace;">Shearers
were an itinerant group of men depending on seasonal work, a popular
song at the time sums up the life of a shearer. </span>
</p>
<p class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;"><br />
</p>
<p class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;"><span style="color: #ff0066;"><span style="font-family: Courier New, monospace;">The
springtime it brings on the shearing</span></span></p>
<p class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;"><span style="color: #ff0066;"><span style="font-family: Courier New, monospace;">And
it's the you will see them in droves </span></span>
</p>
<p class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;"><span style="color: #ff0066;"><span style="font-family: Courier New, monospace;">To

<p class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;"><span style="color: #ff0066;"><span style="font-family: Courier New, monospace;">A
seeking a job of the coves</span></span></p>
<p class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;"><br />
</p>
<p class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;"><span style="color: black;"><span style="font-family: Courier New, monospace;">The
shearing season varied between states, an expert shearer could earn
money during most of shearing season by travelling and the different
colonies, including Tassie and New Zealand. It was not unheard of
for shearers to boast that they could shear all year round. This
they could do as the shearing started in Queensland in January
running to March, then in NSW, Victoria, South Australia between
August to November. Also in Queensland the period from July to
September was favoured because it was a time when the fleece was at
its thickest and grass seeds didn't affect the quality. </span></span>
</p>
<p class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;"><br />

hello Tuesday, how many have heard of the Solenodon I hadn't till
now. They are a venomous, nocturnal, burrowing insectivorous mammals
belonging to the Solenodontidae family. That help any, nope didn't
help me know what they are either.</span></p>
<p class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;"><span style="font-family: "Courier New", monospace;">They
have elongated snout which is flexible which means it can twist and
turn its snout to probe tiny nooks and crannies for food. They are
generally omnivores that prefer animal material and prey primarily on
invertebrates but also scavenge on vertebrate remains. They will also
eat insects, worms, small reptiles, roots,fruits and leaves.</span></p>
<p class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;"><span style="font-family: "Courier New", monospace;">Native
to Cuba and Hispaniola the 30cm or around 12 inches they are one of
the very few venomous mammals around. Similar to snakes it injects
its poison through teeth that have special groves to carry the venom.</span></p>
<p class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;"><span style="font-family: "Courier New", monospace;">The
female has two nipples for feeding her young at the rear of her

morning all, here we are at another Monday and that means some facts
taken from my Great Book Of Knowledge, yes that is the name of the
book I am using for these posts. This week we are looking at plants.
</span>
</p>
<p class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;"><br />
</p>
<p class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;"><span style="color: red;"><span style="font-family: Courier New, monospace;">Some
plants have evolved leaves, stings or poisons to protect themselves
from being eaten by animals.</span></span></p>
<p class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;"></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEjwAcmKoBaXsdLRBMD73YsEpG7bia1nGMXvqLlOWCABJyEiBJscRxremtT3tRfNnir06MNqrTUmZQHJ_SmieK11m452PdsIO4bUPO13DP3OmzWv6mNNfAoE74qvDeiDyc7CB5_M3zwUsCUswadLicr_dXLRr8KZpFRAMYFK4Gs8KwJMl--j9txrEkyfB7Ah" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="" data-original-height="220" data-original-width="229" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEjwAcmKoBaXsdLRBMD73YsEpG7bia1nGMXvqLlOWCABJyEiBJscRxremtT3tRfNnir06MNqrTUmZQHJ_SmieK11m452PdsIO4bUPO13DP3OmzWv6mNNfAoE74qvDeiDyc7CB5_M3zwUsCUswadLicr_dXLRr8KZpFRAMYFK4Gs8KwJMl--j9txrEkyfB7Ah" width="250" /></a></div><br /><br />
<p></p>
<p class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;"><span style="color: #330099;"><span style="font-family: Courier New, monospace;">There
are around 300,000 plant species in the world.</span></span></p>
<p class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;"><br />
</p>
<p class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;"><span style="color: #009933;"><span style="font-family: Courier New, monospace;">Everything
we eat comes from plants either directly when we eat plants or
indirectly when we eat animals that feed on plants. </span></span>
</p>
<p class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;"><br />
</p>
<p class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;"><span style="color: #990066;"><span style="font-family: Courier New, monospace;">All
plants can be divided into two groups flowering plants which include
roses, sunflowers and most trees, and non-flowering plants such as
mosses and ferns.</span></span></p>
<p class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;"><br />
</p>
<p class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;"><span style="color: #ff0066;"><span style="font-family: Courier New, monospace;">Some
plants eat insects and other tiny animals these are called
carnivorous plants and grow in area where the soil is thin and
lacking nutrients. </span></span>

<span style="font-family: Courier New, monospace;"><span style="font-size: small;">Much cooler this
morning only 23 degrees this morning, no breeze which is better then
a hot breeze I guess. By 7am it had dropped to 19 degrees and by
8.30am it has gone up again to 21 degrees. </span></span>
</p>
<p class="western" lang="en-US" style="font-weight: normal; margin-bottom: 0cm;"><span style="font-family: "Courier New", monospace;">Having internet
issues this morning so bloody frustrating. I rebooted the computer
and it came good. So I was able to do the food shopping.</span></p>
<p class="western" lang="en-US" style="font-weight: normal; margin-bottom: 0cm;"><span style="font-family: "Courier New", monospace;">I am trying to stay
up till 5pm each day, managed it yesterday and again today.</span></p>
<p class="western" lang="en-US" style="font-weight: normal; margin-bottom: 0cm;"><span style="color: #990066; font-family: "Courier New", monospace;">Another
good night, at 5am when I got up it was only 21 degrees but by 6am it
was 22 degrees. Had an egg-flip for breakie as I am out of chocolate
milk. There is a nice cool breeze coming through the house, I am in
longish pants as I have no clean shorts that fit me.</span></p>
<p class="western" lang="en-US" style="font-weight: normal; margin-bottom: 0cm;"><span style="color: #990066; font-family: "Courier New", monospace;">Tasha
came down to see me not for any reason other then to say Hi and give
me a hug let me know she misses seeing me but she has been pretty
busy with work and stuff.</span></p>
<p class="western" lang="en-US" style="font-weight: normal; margin-bottom: 0cm;"><span style="color: #990066; font-family: "Courier New", monospace;">Tim's
physio came and that went well, he only has 2 more appointments with
her, this afternoon he went to find a denture repair place as his
plate is damaged.</span></p>
<p class="western" lang="en-US" style="font-weight: normal; margin-bottom: 0cm;"><span style="color: #0000cc; font-family: "Courier New", monospace;">This
morning I woke to Tim giving me a pat as I hadn't heard the alarm go
off. It was 17 degrees when I got up so I am wearing long
light-weight pants again.</span></p>
<p class="western" lang="en-US" style="font-weight: normal; margin-bottom: 0cm;"><span style="color: #0000cc; font-family: "Courier New", monospace;">The
laptop is giving me a headache this morning.</span></p>
<p class="western" lang="en-US" style="font-weight: normal; margin-bottom: 0cm;"><span style="color: #0000cc; font-family: "Courier New", monospace;">Tim,
Jessica and myself went out for lunch at Tim's favourite all you can
eat place the Eastern Tiger.</span></p>
<p class="western" lang="en-US" style="font-weight: normal; margin-bottom: 0cm;"><span style="color: #0000cc; font-family: "Courier New", monospace;">Tomorrow

with them.</span></p>
<p class="western" lang="en-US" style="font-weight: normal; margin-bottom: 0cm;"><span style="color: red; font-family: "Courier New", monospace;">Another
cool morning with a temp of 18 degrees, slept well. I put on shorts
when I got dressed but had to go and change into longer pants, at
least until it starts to warm up. That is what Autumn is like long
pants in the morning shorts from mid morning onwards till we need
warmer clothes in the evening.</span></p>
<p class="western" lang="en-US" style="font-weight: normal; margin-bottom: 0cm;"><span style="color: red; font-family: "Courier New", monospace;">I
do not feel well this morning my whole head aches and feels too heavy
for my body.</span></p>
<p class="western" lang="en-US" style="font-weight: normal; margin-bottom: 0cm;"><span style="color: red; font-family: "Courier New", monospace;">After
Sam went to school I put my feet up and closed my eyes for 45
minutes.</span></p>
<p class="western" lang="en-US" style="font-weight: normal; margin-bottom: 0cm;"><span style="color: red; font-family: "Courier New", monospace;">I
went out for lunch with Jess and Tasha that was nice, I enjoyed
myself.</span></p>
<p class="western" lang="en-US" style="font-weight: normal; margin-bottom: 0cm;"><span style="color: red; font-family: "Courier New", monospace;">Tim
had someone into clean the carpet it does look better.</span></p>
<p class="western" lang="en-US" style="font-weight: normal; margin-bottom: 0cm;">
<span style="color: #009933;"><span style="font-family: Courier New, monospace;"><span style="font-size: small;">After
another good night I am up dressed and started my day the temp is 19
degrees.</span></span></span></p>
<p class="western" lang="en-US" style="font-weight: normal; margin-bottom: 0cm;"><span style="color: #009933; font-family: "Courier New", monospace;">Tim
has an appointments this morning with his counselor and before he
left he turned the air con on this was a surprise for me as he
usually doesn't want it on. He told me when he got home that it was
his last appointments with him, he felt it was a waste of time seeing
the guy.</span></p>
<p class="western" lang="en-US" style="font-weight: normal; margin-bottom: 0cm;"><span style="color: #009933; font-family: "Courier New", monospace;">I
tidy up Sam's room just folded up his clothes and moved his art books
onto a cupboard and not the floor.</span></p>
<p class="western" lang="en-US" style="font-weight: normal; margin-bottom: 0cm;">

</p>
<p class="western" lang="en-US" style="font-weight: normal; margin-bottom: 0cm;">
<span style="color: #009933;"><span style="font-family: Courier New, monospace;"><span style="font-size: small;">It
got to 28 degrees by 11am. </span></span></span>
</p>
<p class="western" lang="en-US" style="font-weight: normal; margin-bottom: 0cm;"><span style="color: red; font-family: "Courier New", monospace;">I
found a message from Jess telling me Sam isn't going to school, he
needs a day off.</span></p>
<p class="western" lang="en-US" style="font-weight: normal; margin-bottom: 0cm;"><span style="color: red; font-family: "Courier New", monospace;">It
is 21 degrees this morning but not hot with the front and back doors
open.</span></p>
<p class="western" lang="en-US" style="font-weight: normal; margin-bottom: 0cm;"><span style="color: red; font-family: "Courier New", monospace;">At
1pm Tim decided to walk to Service NSW when he left I turned the air
con on. It was 28 degrees when I turned it on.</span></p>
<p class="western" lang="en-US" style="font-weight: normal; margin-bottom: 0cm;"><span style="color: red; font-family: "Courier New", monospace;">Tim
was annoyed when as he found out what he went to Service NSW about
has to be done online.</span></p>
<p class="western" lang="en-US" style="font-weight: normal; margin-bottom: 0cm;"><span style="color: red; font-family: "Courier New", monospace;">Tim
went and dug out some documents from storage in shed to use for his
resume, it exhausted him and he also spent about 45 minutes shredding
documents.</span></p>
<p class="western" lang="en-US" style="font-weight: normal; margin-bottom: 0cm;"><span style="font-family: "Courier New", monospace;">I woke with the
alarm after sleeping straight through the night, the temp was 20
degrees at 5am but by 5.45 it was had dropped to 19 degrees. It went
back up to 20 degrees by 8am.</span></p>
<p class="western" lang="en-US" style="font-weight: normal; margin-bottom: 0cm;"><span style="font-family: "Courier New", monospace;">Had a phone call
from Kathy she said her and the girls will be over this afternoon for
a visit. They turned up around 1.30pm and stared an hour & half.</span></p>
<p class="western" lang="en-US" style="font-weight: normal; margin-bottom: 0cm;"><span style="font-family: "Courier New", monospace;">By
2pm it was 28 degrees.</span></p>Jo-Anne's Ramblingshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11418152399382818709noreply@blogger.com15tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2372897564928472255.post-22919517737042519172024-03-08T07:42:00.004+11:002024-03-08T07:42:43.934+11:00Parkinston's Disease<p> </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEjF87YHyLvWT36lglhd2juc-beqfe6iI1PSZD9yAJ_MTLgKPCwG9w6KvNXBn1kkZ5LgMZ9U0I0BoDGFS0N32AxA2179f0P-KW9o5aGISXYSvDjJlZ-dWmQJsE2Pue3UL9eRIowGIzotrpZmnBChocgmz_sYTFa5s57WrD0XwBPv8_HhagUQ3m5YaL1MNH0w" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="" data-original-height="183" data-original-width="275" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEjF87YHyLvWT36lglhd2juc-beqfe6iI1PSZD9yAJ_MTLgKPCwG9w6KvNXBn1kkZ5LgMZ9U0I0BoDGFS0N32AxA2179f0P-KW9o5aGISXYSvDjJlZ-dWmQJsE2Pue3UL9eRIowGIzotrpZmnBChocgmz_sYTFa5s57WrD0XwBPv8_HhagUQ3m5YaL1MNH0w" width="320" /></a></div><br /><p></p><p class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;"><span style="font-family: Courier New, monospace;">Here
we are at another Friday so here is a little more about Parkinson's
this week we are talking about balance or the trouble we have with
it. </span>
</p>
<p class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;"><span style="font-family: "Courier New", monospace;">Slowness
of movement has an important part with they symptom of dizziness and
balance which is common with Parkinson's. A suffer may notice
difficulty when getting out of a low chair due to a fear of falling
forwards, this is something I have experienced.</span></p>
<p class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;"><span style="font-family: "Courier New", monospace;">We
can also have issues when walking around the house or even just
standing. One issue is that we may at times feel like our feet are
stuck to the floor, when we try to make our feet move we</span></p>
<p class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;"><span style="font-family: "Courier New", monospace;">Also
when turning around we may move our feet wrong causing us to lose our
balance, another problem can be at the threshold of a door where for
some unknown reason our feet don't want to move and our balance is
lost and we fall unless we think to take hold of the door frame.</span></p>
<p class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;"><span style="font-family: "Courier New", monospace;">We
can also have a problem when faced with downward incline our legs
feel like they are going to run away with us and in some cases may do
just that. This is why many will choose to have some form of support
when walking downhill and if on level ground they have good balance,
which I don't always have now days.</span></p>
<p class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;"><span style="font-family: "Courier New", monospace;">Many
will find it difficult to get on and off a bus or train and maybe
even in and out of some cars.</span></p>
<p class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;"><span style="font-family: "Courier New", monospace;">Walking
in a crowd can be unsettling as if we get bumped it may cause us to
lose our balance and fall, it is our slowness in movement that can
cause such problems.</span></p>
<p class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;"><span style="font-family: "Courier New", monospace;">There
are some particular movements that are affected by Parkinson's such
as turning over in bed, thankfully I don't have a problem with that.
Getting in and out of a bath is a problem which is why I now shower
using a shower chair as standing causes me balance problems with the
hot water and steam.</span></p>
<p class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;"><span style="font-family: "Courier New", monospace;">It
is this fear of falling that increasingly limits our ability to do
things. This is why exercise is important we need to keep our bodies
moving and not allow our fear of falling to stop us doing stuff, or
we may end up sitting in a chair wasting away. This naturally will

<p class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;"><span style="font-family: courier;">Today
we are looking at the Burrowing Owl, this is a ground dwelling owl
that makes it nests in burrows dug by other animals such as
squirrels, armadillos, skunks and gophers in the open plains
throughout North America.</span></p>
<p class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;"><span style="font-family: courier;">Galloping
across the ground on their long legs they pounce on their prey which
include insects, small mammals, amphibians, reptiles and other birds
at either dusk or dawn.</span></p>
<p class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;"><span style="font-family: courier;">Left
on their own in the burrow while parents hunt, juvenile owlets scare
off predators my mimicking the sound of a rattlesnake.</span></p><p class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;"><span style="font-family: courier;">The

dung beetles which is one of the favourite foods.</span></p><p class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;"><span style="background-color: white; color: #4d5156; font-size: 14px;"><span style="font-family: courier;">The burrowing owl, also called the shoco, is a small, long-legged owl found throughout open landscapes of North and South America. here we are at another Monday and of course that means it is time for
some more facts, still looking at Earth facts.</span></p>
<p class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;"><span style="color: #cc3300; font-family: "Courier New", monospace;">The
Earth is the only planet in our solar system known to support life,
as living things need just the right amount of heat and light from
the sun as well as food, water and oxygen to survive.</span></p>
<p class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;"><span style="color: #990066; font-family: "Courier New", monospace;">If
all the land on Earth was shared equally among the entire population,
each person would get an equal size about the same ar couple of
football pitches.</span></p>
<p class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;"><span style="color: #009933; font-family: "Courier New", monospace;">The
Earth is over 4 billion years old, but it is only expected to
support life for a further 500 million years. How the hell do they
know that.</span></p>
<p class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;"><span style="color: #0000cc; font-family: "Courier New", monospace;">There
are thousands of artificial satellites as well as twenty odd
thousands pieces of man made currently orbiting the Earth.</span></p>
<p class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;"><span style="color: #ff3300; font-family: "Courier New", monospace;">The
population of the Earth is about 18 billion and increasing</span></p>

movement effects the muscles of the chest and diaphragm as well as
those of the larynx which results in speech becoming softer, slower
and slurred. I have heard Tim say often that I don't speak loud
enough, I don't think that is the case as I sound normal to me.</span></p>
<p class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;"><span style="font-family: "Courier New", monospace;">Even
though family and friends of a Parkinson's sufferer may find the
slowness o movement irritating and frustrating it is part of the
disease and however, much we try we cannot hurry or go faster.</span></p>
<p class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;"><span style="font-family: "Courier New", monospace;">Everyday
tasks such as dressing, washing and eating can over time take longer
to achieve, our love ones need to remember it is also very
frustrating for us suffers as well. We try and do things as fast as
possible but sometimes it doesn't work out that way. We still think
as normal no slowness there unless the condition is well advanced or
we are effected by side-effects of treatment.</span></p>
<p class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;"><span style="font-family: "Courier New", monospace;">We
do not need people to speak slower for us to understand, we
understand just fine the problem is getting our bodies to do what our
brain says to do.</span></p>
<p class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;"><span style="font-family: "Courier New", monospace;">Next
week we will talk about balance.</span></p>Jo-Anne's Ramblingshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11418152399382818709noreply@blogger.com7tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2372897564928472255.post-86525178663463239992024-02-29T07:42:00.004+11:002024-02-29T07:42:33.885+11:00Working Life in the 1890's <p> </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEjwVFpSxqKHChc1nYAL5QI0EFyjVjkBRFR1dQiaElmv2oxNF0W_YcnFofHMKv5xoaEwCOKdfWYbqaVzBgq8PRzwEtjyS0LfJUmvpKqL6kCkreEdAmTgRoHHxqyq8vuVtuYk2aqNZdaP2EQcx_5sIbj5jcageGoMtzFolY0_ECJ8CVXz3rkXFSj5AtaCqZ8j" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="" data-original-height="270" data-original-width="186" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEjwVFpSxqKHChc1nYAL5QI0EFyjVjkBRFR1dQiaElmv2oxNF0W_YcnFofHMKv5xoaEwCOKdfWYbqaVzBgq8PRzwEtjyS0LfJUmvpKqL6kCkreEdAmTgRoHHxqyq8vuVtuYk2aqNZdaP2EQcx_5sIbj5jcageGoMtzFolY0_ECJ8CVXz3rkXFSj5AtaCqZ8j" width="165" /></a></div><br /><p></p><p class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;"><span style="font-family: Courier New, monospace;">Well
here we are at Thursday again so it is time for more about the
working life in Australia in the 1890's.</span></p>
<p class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;"><span style="font-family: "Courier New", monospace;">This
week we are looking at transpor</span><span lang="en-US" style="font-family: "Courier New", monospace;">t and shops.</span></p>
<p class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;"><span style="font-family: "Courier New", monospace;">To
save money most workers lived either in the city or the inner
suburbs meaning they would be able to walk to work. As the cities
began their slow sprawl to the outer suburbs, trains, ferries, trams
and the omnibus system was established to service them.</span></p>
<p class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;"><span style="font-family: "Courier New", monospace;">In
the 1890's the main form of transport was the horse, it was in 1898,
670 four wheeled cabs and 212 hansom cabs crossed the streets of
Melbourne and 1,332 drivers were licensed for the movement of goods.</span></p>
<p class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;"><span style="font-family: "Courier New", monospace;">Over
time more and more cable trams were able to carry more and more
passengers, in 1898 a first class gripman earned 40 shillings per
week, while first-class conductors earned 38 shillings per week.</span></p>
<p class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;"><br />
</p>
<p class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;"><span style="font-family: Courier New, monospace;">Large
department stores had become a feature of city and suburban life by
the late 1800's. <span lang="en-US">Salespeople worked long hours and
had strict rules which contrasted with surroundings the these lavish
stores, such as David Jones, The Mutual Store and others. </span></span>

Tuesday, I hope everyone is doing well this weeks creature is the
North American Beaver .</span></p>
<p class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;"><span style="font-family: "Courier New", monospace;">The
first thing many notice about this beaver is its teeth they are large
and strong , they use these to gnaw down trees and build dome shaped
homes called lodges.</span></p>
<p class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;"></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEjf_LNrpIB6rIWWdmS8P99Q-Qs0oRtB5zK1uM6MoY-bz1i2oVCJeaiCRp5r_xPtweQOgdEx8L3EASLeOV_L-Ks7atT7v1hZpQjSytG2lnd7UmcElQ_EyC3cSaDuBM9e43EAVTZRnNlUu1E4WvYTEZAfII1OMXkFYSW17ulkrymyYMTGbcWcd4fgeRPWZ7OE" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="" data-original-height="318" data-original-width="318" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEjf_LNrpIB6rIWWdmS8P99Q-Qs0oRtB5zK1uM6MoY-bz1i2oVCJeaiCRp5r_xPtweQOgdEx8L3EASLeOV_L-Ks7atT7v1hZpQjSytG2lnd7UmcElQ_EyC3cSaDuBM9e43EAVTZRnNlUu1E4WvYTEZAfII1OMXkFYSW17ulkrymyYMTGbcWcd4fgeRPWZ7OE" width="240" /></a></div><br /><br />
<p></p>
<p class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;"><span style="font-family: Courier New, monospace;">The
can swim up to 8km/h with the aid of their webbed back feet and
paddle shaped tail. They are also able to stay underwater for up to
15 minutes and have a set of transparent eyelids that function like
goggles. </span>
</p>
<p class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;"><span style="font-family: "Courier New", monospace;">They
are second only to humans in their ability to change their
environment, felling trees to transform forests and fields into
ponds.</span></p>
<p class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;"><span style="font-family: "Courier New", monospace;">The
North American beaver is one of two extant beaver species, along with
the Eurasian beaver. It is native to North America and has been
introduced in South America and Europe. The North American beaver is
one of the official national wildlife of Canada symbols and is the
official state mammal of Oregon and New York.</span></p><br /><p></p>Jo-Anne's Ramblingshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11418152399382818709noreply@blogger.com11tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2372897564928472255.post-30791769858956216352024-02-26T08:45:00.000+11:002024-02-26T08:45:00.940+11:00More Earth Facts <p> </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEgtVxEhuM5maxMP3CI5p8GoKS6g1Ag6r5eQH_lvRhNqh4gY7LJw5BAmlkg6tcEg8hEJo9MTap0qdtSZNR1khnGYwU8N1q3_2sJbU4F3iNS3hpt99yMFrES5VBo_K5jQtFC88IO-EGHjgfqcwC9ZVpgTBid2whiBlNV0Ft3ZtMDTxnj0HN2ChXgTRB9V-qsp" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="" data-original-height="158" data-original-width="319" height="158" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEgtVxEhuM5maxMP3CI5p8GoKS6g1Ag6r5eQH_lvRhNqh4gY7LJw5BAmlkg6tcEg8hEJo9MTap0qdtSZNR1khnGYwU8N1q3_2sJbU4F3iNS3hpt99yMFrES5VBo_K5jQtFC88IO-EGHjgfqcwC9ZVpgTBid2whiBlNV0Ft3ZtMDTxnj0HN2ChXgTRB9V-qsp" width="320" /></a></div><br /><p></p><p class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;"> <span style="font-family: Courier New, monospace;">A
new week has arrived and that means some facts about the Earth.</span></p>
<p class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;"><span style="color: #660066; font-family: "Courier New", monospace;">If
you went soaring through the atmosphere in a hot air balloon, you
would find it harder to breathe the higher you went as the atmosphere
gets thinner.</span></p>
<p class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;"><span style="color: #ff3300; font-family: "Courier New", monospace;">The
mixture of gases in the atmosphere has taken over 4.5 billion years
to evolve, around 99% of the atmosphere is made up of oxygen and
nitrogen, the remainder is tiny amounts of other gases.</span></p>
<p class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;"><span style="color: #009900; font-family: "Courier New", monospace;">The
force of gravity is not even all over the Earth, a person weighing
around 150 pounds at the equator would weigh 151 pounds at the North
Pole.</span></p>
<p class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;"><span style="color: #cc0066; font-family: "Courier New", monospace;">The
part of the Earth that has life on it is called the ecosphere.</span></p>
<p class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;"><span style="color: #6600ff; font-family: "Courier New", monospace;">The
length of a day on Earth is increasing by 17 milliseconds per
century.</span></p>Jo-Anne's Ramblingshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11418152399382818709noreply@blogger.com12tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2372897564928472255.post-74954518937518565292024-02-25T07:40:00.010+11:002024-02-25T07:40:56.378+11:00Week 8 of 2024<p> </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEgtK-4gxhI-00BBjVrZb_-WOnxt91j2OjtQrOLvu6rIVzoKMFx2V0sGqKjg8J7FJjFM8p4i4Ho-Vc4i8w64CYAArlRZ4sq0lZnntRqGQ4Xm4_YEg76LXNM-HvVbvrVBa1ZS9Z1T3byI3-0YHGC5fh6WsyqkNW0gdgBthUO1c3ajBmpWy5Z1sP9YqOqos_IG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="" data-original-height="224" data-original-width="225" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEgtK-4gxhI-00BBjVrZb_-WOnxt91j2OjtQrOLvu6rIVzoKMFx2V0sGqKjg8J7FJjFM8p4i4Ho-Vc4i8w64CYAArlRZ4sq0lZnntRqGQ4Xm4_YEg76LXNM-HvVbvrVBa1ZS9Z1T3byI3-0YHGC5fh6WsyqkNW0gdgBthUO1c3ajBmpWy5Z1sP9YqOqos_IG" width="241" /></a></div><br /><p></p><p class="western" style="font-weight: normal; margin-bottom: 0cm;"><span style="font-family: Courier New, monospace;"><span style="font-size: small;">Up
at 4.50am after a decent enough good night. </span></span>
</p>
<p class="western" style="font-weight: normal; margin-bottom: 0cm;"><span style="font-family: "Courier New", monospace;">I
have no deodorant as Jess ran out and came and took mine, and boy do
I stink. I went in and washed under my arms. I turned the a/c on at
9am as I was sick of being drenched in sweat.</span></p>
<p class="western" style="font-weight: normal; margin-bottom: 0cm;"><span style="font-family: "Courier New", monospace;">The
computer was working well till 9am when it decided it was time to
freeze.</span></p>
<p class="western" style="font-weight: normal; margin-bottom: 0cm;"><span style="font-family: "Courier New", monospace;">I
decided to start having an egg flip with or for breakie as I am not
eating much during the day.</span></p>
<p class="western" style="font-weight: normal; margin-bottom: 0cm;"><span style="font-family: "Courier New", monospace;">Had
a really good night, slept well woke twice to pee but straight back
to sleep.</span></p>
<p class="western" style="font-weight: normal; margin-bottom: 0cm;"><span style="color: maroon; font-family: "Courier New", monospace;">Yesterday
afternoon around 3pm Sam walks out of his room needing help with a
bleeding finger due to a slip of the knife, he had been eating a pie.
Anyway Papa helped him clean it up and cover it with a band aid, it's
not a serious cut thankfully. I helped change the band aids this
morning.</span></p>
<p class="western" style="font-weight: normal; margin-bottom: 0cm;"><span style="color: maroon; font-family: "Courier New", monospace;">Sue
popped over to see me no reason other then to make sure I am doing
ok. I asked I she could send of the parcel for Thea & Daemon
which she said she would do.</span></p>
<p class="western" style="font-weight: normal; margin-bottom: 0cm;"><span style="color: maroon; font-family: "Courier New", monospace;">Tim
had another meeting at work and they have terminated his employment
this is ok, he was frustrated with the run around and he has no idea
when he will able to go back to work at 100% and that's what work
wanted to know.</span></p>
<p class="western" style="font-weight: normal; margin-bottom: 0cm;"><span style="color: maroon; font-family: "Courier New", monospace;">It
started to piss down rain around 10.30am and came over pretty cool.</span></p>
<p class="western" style="font-weight: normal; margin-bottom: 0cm;"><span style="color: maroon; font-family: "Courier New", monospace;">Sam
out early and Tim was just walking out to go meet him but he was
already here.</span></p>
<p class="western" style="font-weight: normal; margin-bottom: 0cm;"><span style="color: #0000cc; font-family: "Courier New", monospace;">After
around 3hrs sleep I found myself needing to pee 3 times in under an
hour, so I decided to get up for an hour or so. I did at last settled
down on returning to bed.</span></p>
<p class="western" style="font-weight: normal; margin-bottom: 0cm;"><span style="color: #0000cc; font-family: "Courier New", monospace;">I
woke to find Tim asleep on the lounge at 5am, he moved from the
lounge to our bed.</span></p>
<p class="western" style="font-weight: normal; margin-bottom: 0cm;"><span style="color: #0000cc; font-family: "Courier New", monospace;">Had
to ring Jess to wake Sam who's phone was going straight to voicemail,
also been raining on and off and I am not suppose to take the scooter
out in wet weather.</span></p>
<p class="western" style="font-weight: normal; margin-bottom: 0cm;"><span style="color: #0000cc; font-family: "Courier New", monospace;">Due
to the rain I rang and cancelled my podiatry appointment. As I sat at
my computer and watched yet another very heavy downpour I decided to
cancel as I am slow getting in and out of the car and if such a
downpour happened when I was getting in or out I would end up
drenched. I now go next Wednesday.</span></p>
<p class="western" style="font-weight: normal; margin-bottom: 0cm;"><span style="color: #660066; font-family: "Courier New", monospace;">SUMMER'S
BIRTHDAY SHE IS 11 TODAY</span></p>
<p class="western" style="font-weight: normal; margin-bottom: 0cm;"><span style="color: #660066; font-family: "Courier New", monospace;">Had
a really good night slept straight through for like 10hrs and haven't
been shaking at all since I got up nearly an hour ago. Feels good.</span></p>
<p class="western" style="font-weight: normal; margin-bottom: 0cm;"><span style="color: #660066; font-family: "Courier New", monospace;">The
no shaking lasted till 8.30ish and even after it returned it wasn't
bad.</span></p>
<p class="western" style="font-weight: normal; margin-bottom: 0cm;"><span style="color: #660066; font-family: "Courier New", monospace;">Felt
good all day.</span></p>
<p class="western" style="font-weight: normal; margin-bottom: 0cm;"><span style="color: #0000cc; font-family: "Courier New", monospace;">DAEMON'S
BIRTHDAY</span></p>
<p class="western" style="font-weight: normal; margin-bottom: 0cm;"><span style="color: #0000cc; font-family: "Courier New", monospace;">Had
another good nights sleep woke only once to pee and then straight
back to sleep. Tremor wise I am not as good as yesterday when I got
up but it is also in no way bad.</span></p>
<p class="western" style="font-weight: normal; margin-bottom: 0cm;"><span style="color: #0000cc; font-family: "Courier New", monospace;">A
warm and sticky day, had turn the a/c on at midday.</span></p>
<p class="western" style="font-weight: normal; margin-bottom: 0cm;"><span style="color: #0000cc; font-family: "Courier New", monospace;">I
have restarted my exercise program to help keep my body moving as it
should, I got a little slack for a while but I think that has passed
now.</span></p>
<p class="western" style="font-weight: normal; margin-bottom: 0cm;"><span style="color: #006600; font-family: "Courier New", monospace;">Another
good night, slept straight through again woke with very little
shaking. I have the front and back doors opened and the breeze is
nice, we are in for another hot day.</span></p>
<p class="western" style="font-weight: normal; margin-bottom: 0cm;"><span style="color: #006600; font-family: "Courier New", monospace;">I
had to go and wake Tim at 11am. He was shocked at how late it was and
he was in a deep sleep as I had to say his name a few times before he
woke up.</span></p>
<p class="western" style="font-weight: normal; margin-bottom: 0cm;"><span style="color: #006600;"><span style="font-family: Courier New, monospace;"><span style="font-size: small;">He
had a phone call from Youi they said that the woman Sarah is going to
help Tim find another job not driving heavy vehicles as he isn't
cleared to do that by his doctors as yet. They guy also said
something about how much they will keep paying Tim if he is unable to
get another job but I can't remember what was said. The gist I got
was they wouldn't be paying the amount they are currently paying but
I am not sure. </span></span></span>
</p>
<p class="western" style="font-weight: normal; margin-bottom: 0cm;"><span style="font-family: "Courier New", monospace;">Had
another pretty good night woke when the alarm went off, much cooler
this morning only 22 degrees better then yesterdays 38 degrees and
should stay around the low 20's all day, with maybe some rain.</span></p>
<p class="western" style="font-weight: normal; margin-bottom: 0cm;"><span style="font-family: "Courier New", monospace;">I
was writing some letters this morning and when I tried to add a photo
it came something about the graphics being missing or faulty what the
hell, it was fine yesterday. I restarted the computer and it came

here we are at another Friday and so I will share a little more about
Parkinson's Disease, the dreaded condition I have, today I will share
a little about slowness of movement.</span></p>
<p class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;"><span style="font-family: "Courier New", monospace;">The
name for this is “hypokinesia” if you can pronounce that you are
better then me, anyway it affects everyday movements such as walking,
getting out of a chair and in and our of bed, turning over in bed. It
can also affect speech, swallowing and facial expressions. If the
slowness affects one's arms then it will affect one's writing as well
as other hand movements.</span></p>
<p class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;"><span style="font-family: "Courier New", monospace;">This
slowness of movement is the most important feature in the diagnosis
of Parkinson's and nearly always the most disabling. It is what
causes the expressionless face (which I hate) which can lead some to
think the suffer is stupid or angry which we are not.</span></p>
<p class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;"><span style="font-family: "Courier New", monospace;">It
leads to the lack of natural movements such as blinking or swinging
the arms when walking and even if the suffer is nervous they may sit
still without turning their head or moving their hands. I wish I
could stop moving my hands at times, it always looks like I am waving
at people.</span></p>
<p class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;"><span style="font-family: "Courier New", monospace;">They
disability from this arises from the fact that our voluntary
movements become slow, reduced in range and require more effort and
concentration to achieve. This is why our steps become shorter and we
may start to drag our feet in a shuffle instead of lifting them off
the ground, when we shuffle we can do so pretty fast being unable to
stop causing us to run into things, yes this has happened to me.</span></p>
<p class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;"><span style="font-family: "Courier New", monospace;">Repetitive
movements need to do things like brush one's teeth or stirring
saucepan can become difficult and frustrating. This also goes to
handwriting it can become not just slow but messy and smaller the
longer one attempts to write. This books says it can also come to an
involuntary halt which will require some effort to resume, damn
didn't know that.</span></p>
<p class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;"><span style="font-family: Courier New, monospace;">Then
there the issues with using our fingers such as trying to turn a page
in a book, doing up buttons and and bra hooks which is why I don't
wear bras with hooks anymore. If one hand is more affected then the
other it can make two handed tasks even harder like peeling food or
doing up shoelaces. </span>
</p>
<p class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;"><span style="font-family: "Courier New", monospace;">That
will do for this post, more to come next week.</span></p>Jo-Anne's Ramblingshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11418152399382818709noreply@blogger.com11tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2372897564928472255.post-55613443047500685202024-02-22T07:23:00.003+11:002024-02-22T07:23:28.385+11:00Working life in the 1890's Australia <p> </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEhxmpo0wa3AYhgXx7r_gg6-VvHef_0zjXbzntiCUAimm6INcC31W3TynBuo4V2LVe4p1MapgfkmMDD02j_Pz0wfu2Fm-BMAeSBfu7e8QJMsN1UnMkiMoMDy0H_UmyuT5936EtMBTf3ZhkAMQa5-ZrnsWqslLd3k2nj4dUMOli_VAaaVctM8aMYtEfSkbooj" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="" data-original-height="270" data-original-width="186" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEhxmpo0wa3AYhgXx7r_gg6-VvHef_0zjXbzntiCUAimm6INcC31W3TynBuo4V2LVe4p1MapgfkmMDD02j_Pz0wfu2Fm-BMAeSBfu7e8QJMsN1UnMkiMoMDy0H_UmyuT5936EtMBTf3ZhkAMQa5-ZrnsWqslLd3k2nj4dUMOli_VAaaVctM8aMYtEfSkbooj" width="165" /></a></div><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><p></p><p class="western"><span style="font-family: Courier New, monospace;">Hello
everyone, time for a bit more on the working life of Aussie's in the
1890's. </span>
</p>
<p class="western"><span style="font-family: Courier New, monospace;">This week we
will touch other jobs city workers had starting with the good old
office worker. Until the invention of the typewriter in 1864 office
workers were mostly male.</span></p>
<p class="western"><span style="font-family: Courier New, monospace;">However by
around 1890 more and more middle-class young women were being
employed to work the new office machines. Business colleges were
teaching the skills of typing and shorthand to more and more females,
although these skill were still studied by males. </span>
</p>
<p class="western"><span style="font-family: Courier New, monospace;">Despite the
advent of typewriters the careful “public service” copperplate
hand-writing was still paramount until the twentieth century for work
in registers and ledger books. </span>
</p>
<p class="western"><span style="font-family: Courier New, monospace;">Then there is
the job of a telephonist with the invention of the telephone came new
opportunities for young females for employment as a growing number of
manual exchanges started to appear. From this time many
middle-classes as well as offices had a telephone. Some home even had
a special room just for the telephone. </span>
