Smoking

Do you smoke?

Do you think people who smoke should not be allowed to do it out in the open space?

Do you think there are too many restrictions on smoking?

Here in Australia smoking is not allowed at open cafe's or around the entrance to buildings or on any of Hunter New England Heath sites.

No the not smoking at the cafe's I get and agree with, same goes for smoking around the entrance of buildings. I also notice that those rules are obeyed, however, can't say the same for the not smoking on the health grounds.

Whenever you visit a hospital you will still notice people outside smoking, they don't smoke right outside the doors but instead walk a little way away and light up. The non smoking on the Hunter New England Health sites was introduced a bloody long time ago but no one has never taken any notice of it.

It seems that every year there are more and more restrictions placed on were people can smoke and some of them I agree with it but others I don't and I don't smoke.

It is illegal to smoke in a car that has a child in it, you can't smoke in any building except your own home.

  1. There is so much danger from second hand smoke that I am glad the rules are making it safer for everyone.

  2. I used to smoke. Quite a bit. For quite a long time and I loved it at the time. I've been smoke-free for well over a decade now, and being on both sides of the fence I definitely side with the non-smokers now. Of course, I'm sure I would have felt differently had all these restrictions been in force when I was a smoker. Do you ever want to quit, or do you just love it too much?

    1. I don't smoke, never have, but Tim does and he says he wants to quit but hasn't done so as yet, well he has quit a few times only to take it up again

  3. I do think that some of the smoking rules concerning open air seem to be a bit overboard but I am not a smoker and am pretty firm on the "no smoking" band wagon. I am thankful that so many places have banned smoking indoors and near entrances.

I know several people that have had health problems because of being raised in smoking households....so second hand smoke is a bit concern of mine.

    1. I grew up in a household where dad smoked but he rarely smoked around us, Tim smokes but not in the house and not around the children. I do have a problem with young children smoking but even though my daughter Natasha took it up in her teens she didn't hid it from me for long. She knew I didn't approve but she was my wild child and it wasn't a battle I was going to win
