Good morning, or afternoon or maybe it is evening where you are, anyway you may have noticed that there was no post yesterday as I was not feeling very well and even though I am feeling some what better I am still not 100%.
Anyway here are this weeks Aussie slang.
Strides: Trousers or pants
Tall Poppies: Successful people
Too Right: Definitely
Tea: Super or dinner
Tinny: Can of beer, or a small aluminium boat
Those are definitely different. I can't picture strides as pants.
ReplyDeleteMy nan use to say it a lot
DeleteSorry about passing my bug to you, even if electronically. Hope you're doing much better. Tall poppies? LOL!
ReplyDeleteI am feeling somewhat better if only I could stop shaking a bit
DeleteI use all your words in speech and blogs, except for strides. My words for pants are all in Yiddish - gutges, hayzen etc
ReplyDeleteTo me they are common words
DeleteKnow these Jo-Anne and do hope you feel better tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteI am improving
DeleteI haven't heard the first two used so thanks for the new words. I hope you feel better soon. Take care.
ReplyDeleteThank you for visiting
DeleteI hadn't heard of the rest of them but I had heard of tea. But I thought that was in the afternoon? More like lunch? Not in the evening like for supper or dinner? Or is there a difference between "afternoon tea" and "tea"?
ReplyDeleteYes there is a difference between the two and in my family tea was always dinner
DeleteI am not surprised
