Hello world, hello Monday the start of another school week and life is good as can be expected. Well it is time for some facts.

The Sun's warming rays travel through 93 million miles of space to reach Earth. Moving at the speed of light, they make the trip in just eight minutes. A jet airliner would need more than 18 years to complete the same journey.

Jupiter's moon Io, has the most spectacular scenery in the solar system. Io's low gravity means that it's volcanoes can throw boiling rock 50 miles in the air.

The tallest sand dunes found anywhere in the world are inn the Sahara Desert. A single dune has enough sand in it to bury the Eiffel Tower.

There are a thousand times more living things in the sea than there are on land.

A typical lightning bolt is three inches wide and two miles long.

  1. Thank you for sharing these amazing facts. There are so many things we do not know. Have a wonderful new week.

  2. The lightning bolt thing takes me back to a little kid memory. My barber used to tell little me goofy stories, including one about how they got the PTH water that he sprayed my hair with from the PTH River in Africa which was 2 miles wide and 2 inches long....

  3. Dear Jo-Anne, I don't know how you decide on which facts to give us each Monday or where you find them, but I'm always enthralled! Thank you. Peace.

  4. Many of your facts today are things I hadn't known, but the most surprising is just how many more living things there are in the sea than on land, never would have thought it would be that many.

  5. Nancy..........You are welcome

    Margaret D......Thanks

    Chris.........What a strange storey

    Dee........That pleses me

    Karen......It surprised me too
