Knowledge Day

Hello everyone my Christmas cards are done and posted 75 in total.

So because it is Monday and a did you know facts are a Monday thing, here are a few facts about Christmas cards.

THEY USED TO BE A STATUS SYMBOL.

HAVING TOO MANY FRIENDS LED TO THE FIRST CHRISTMAS CARD

THEY WERE NOT WELL-RECEIVED.

THE FIRST AMERICAN CARD WAS REALLY A COMMERCIAL AD

HALLMARK INVENTED THE FOLDED CARD

When I was younger, I didn't get sending cards but that changed in my late 30's, and now I enjoy picking out a nice card for someone.

  1. Good to have the cards done.
Nice to read about the card.
So many don't bother with cards these days unfortunately.
I've done mine, did them today and post tomorrow.

  2. Interesting to read about the origins of cards. I have done mine today and will post tomorrow. I don't send as many as I used to, and don't send as many calendars overseas any more as it is very expensive to post but we do our own calendars on line and give to some of our friends. Merry Xmas to you and your family.

Goodness, I thought sending 13 cards was enough! (I used to send far more, but cut back...but never have I sent 75. Don't know near that many people!)

  4. That's a lot of cards! We used to get into the 40's and 50's when I was little, but no one does that here anymore except our financial advisor...
