Good
afternoon everyone, my morning was spent Christmas shopping with
Jessica, who pushed me around in the wheelchair.
Here
are this weeks did you know facts.
The
song “Jingle Bells” was written for Thanksgiving, not Christmas.
In
the Netherlands, Sinterklaas (the Dutch version of Santa Claus)
arrives from Spain, not from the North Pole.
In
Germany, Poland, and Ukraine, finding a spider or a spider’s web on
a Christmas tree is believed to be a harbinger of good luck.
Japanese
people traditionally eat at KFC for Christmas dinner.
The
“X” in “Xmas” doesn’t take “Christ” out of “Christmas.
The
first artificial Christmas Tree wasn’t a tree at all. It was
created out of goose feathers that were dyed green.
I wonder why Jingle Bells was written for Thanksgiving. I knew the fact about Xmas. I get so tired of people who complain about the silly, made-up war on Christmas, that doesn't even exist.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Janie
Interesting facts there Jo-Anne.
ReplyDeleteI didn't know any of these things! Of course, I won't remember them, either.
ReplyDeleteJanie......I know that's strange, I used to get my knickers in a twist over Xmas but then I did s ome research and now I don't
ReplyDeleteMargaret......Thank you
Kea... ....Me either I have a terrible memory
- Santa from Spain? Hmmm...
ReplyDelete- I have friends who finding a spiderweb in their tree would be the quick end of Christmas...
- KFC? Not a bad idea...
I'm glad you got those knickers untwisted.
ReplyDeleteLove again,
Janie
Chris........A can handle a spiderweb as long as there is no spider
ReplyDeleteJanie......Me too
Some new ones for me in this list! Nice. :)
ReplyDeleteI did not know these things. Every day is a school day.
ReplyDeleteI love when you do these kind of facts. I didn't know any of them.
ReplyDeleteThe first artificial Christmas Tree wasn’t a tree at all. It was created out of goose feathers that were dyed green. - wowowowowow
Some of these facts were really a surprise. I'm shocked that the Japanese eat KFC for Christmas, and that "Jingle Bells" wasn't written for Christmas.
ReplyDeleteRita........Yes I agree
ReplyDeleteRick.......So true
Sandie.....That's nice to know
Karen......Me too, KFC for Christmas what the hell
Far as I know, the X is for the Cross...hence...it is not the "bad" thing many see it as.
ReplyDeletePurchasing these and setting them up can net you large benefits. Over the long haul, you will make much more by following the technique than you would by buying homes that need practically no work.
