Poem Thursday No:14

I didn't do a post yesterday because I had an appointment with the podiatrist followed by Tasha going to the post office and the shops. I then came home and wrote a couple of letters and just forgot to write a post. I did read a couple dozen blogs.

Anyway here is today's offering........

Friendship and Kindness walk arm-in-arm

through life. One without the other is

bittersweet; together they are joy and

comfort. For one is silver, the other gold.

Gross Facts No:15

Good morning it is Tuesday so that means it is gross facts day, it is also a bloody cold day but today's facts are about the black death, some of which come from Leo.

The Black Death happened in the middle ages and killed a bloody lot of people.

Plaque doctors or any doctor at the time need three qualifications

1: To be able to lie and not get caught

2: To pretend to be honest

3: To cause death without guilt

Treatments included.............

Cutting up a pigeon and rubbing it over an infected body (Leo)

Drinking stuff like vinegar mixed with arsenic or mercury (Leo)

Sitting close to a fire in a sewer to drive out the fever (Leo)

Doctors often tasted the patients urine

The first death was in 1330 and the last was in 1405

A plague doctor was a medical physician who treated victims of the bubonic plague. In times of epidemics, such physicians were specifically hired by towns where the plague had taken hold. Since the city was paying their salary, they treated everyone: both the wealthy and the poor.

Plague doctors wore a mask with a bird-like beak to protect them from being infected by the disease, which they believed was airborne. In fact, they thought disease was spread by miasma, a noxious form of 'bad air.'

The total weight of all the ants in the world is greater than the weight of all the humans.

There are more than 12,000 species of ants.

Ants carry more than 50 times their body weight, which is the equivalent of a human lifting a small truck.

Queen ants may live as long as 30years.

Only three types of animals fight battles in formation, humans, crows and ants.

The Maricopa harvester ant is the most venomous insect in the world, with a sting equivalent to that of 12 honey bees.

Worker, solider and queen ants are all female.

Male ants have just one job to mate.

In Thailand, weaver ants' eggs are eaten with salad.

The week that was No:21

It is time to start another week that was post.

Kelli & John no that doesn't sound right Jono sounds right, anyway they called in to see me when they dropped Blain off. It was nice to see them, although Freya was afraid of me and cried when I held her.

Jessica and Leo also turned up they caught a bus over, I was surprised to see them still here after I had a nap.

Monday I went to aqua but that was all I did all day

Tuesday saw me up at 6am but I didn't get dressed straight away as I didn't want to disturb Tim as he is on afternoons this week. So I waited till after Leo left and I had breakfast to get dressed.

I woke up with a headache and at 10.30am I went back to bed and slept for 2hrs, when I woke up I felt better. Although I was somewhat annoyed that when I went to make lunch I had no cheese, it was in Tasha's fridge, yes she brought it back.

Wednesday morning I got up at 6am but in two minds about aqua, I woke up feeling tight in the chest and have another headache.

Thursday I woke up tired and was having trouble staying awake, Leo wanted me too go back to bed at 7.45am but I waited till 8.05am till after Leo left for school. I then slept till 11am.

Friday when my alarm went off I didn't want to get up, so laid there for an extra 30 minutes before getting up.

Didn't bother wearing shoes when I went shopping just wore black socks.

Saturday saw Tim working for a change as well as Jessica working as per usual, so Leo is here all day. Kathy came over, ate chocolate then left.

Took the paper work for Jessica's DA down to the RTA and handed it in for her.

Tim is off Sunday, he changed the mesh on the bathroom window and also took a container of medication for Leo to Jessica's for me.

Hey hey it's Saturday No 2

Hey hey it's Saturday, I haven't done a Saturday post in weeks but here I am sitting and writing something today.

Tim is working this morning the first Saturday he has worked in ages.

Leo was disappointed that he didn't get to see his cousins as last night Sydney & Summer had a sleep over at another grandmother's house. Sydney-May's father's mother, who treats Summer like another grandchild.

I had to take the paper work for Jessica's D A into the R T A for her.

The weather here is nice not cold nor hot just nice.

Yesterday after getting into the car I had to readjust myself something I do a lot as I like my bum to be at the back of a seat.

I also like plenty of light when working on the computer.

I am so tired and I have a headache.

Poem Thursday No:13

Good afternoon, what a day, I woke up tired and found myself back in bed 2hrs later, sleeping for 3hrs.

Anyway here is this weeks poem, saying, whatever thing.

Two people are better than one.

When two people work together,

they get more from the work they do.

If one person falls, then the other

person can help him up.

Creature Wednesday/ Wombat

Hello Wednesday, hello world, let us talk about creatures as being Wednesday means it is creature day and today's creature is the wombat.

They are short-legged, muscular marsupials native to Australia, they are mostly nocturnal, coming out at night to eat grass, herbs, bark and roots.

They weigh around 20-35 kilos and those short legs can move pretty fast when they are scared or feel threatened as fast as 40 km/h.

Their gestation period is only 20-22days, the baby is called a joey and it will remain in its mum's pouch for around 6-8 months. They have a backward facing pouch which protects the young from having soil on it when it digs it's burrows.

At 2yrs old they will be fully grown. They have a lifespan of only around 5 years in the wild but in captivity they can live for as long as 30yrs.

They have the driest poo of any mammal, which is due in part to the fact that they have an incredibly long digestive process that can take between 14-18 days.

Although they look cute and cuddly they are dangerous and have been known to attack humans.

The are considered to be pretty smart and have the biggest brain of all marsupials.
