Iron Infusion

Ok my voice recording didn’t work yesterday which sucks but what did I say well just that I was flat out of Friday I went to 5 different shopping centres and still didn’t get my food shopping done so I had to go out again on Saturday to do my food shopping also went to Big W as they had a one day sale and there were a few things I wanted to get. 

Because Tim was working in Sydney over the weekend I had to catch a bus to Lake Fair and get one of my daughters to pick me up and bring me home, Natasha did that which was good what wasn’t was that I spent more than I thought I would but not a lot more only like $10 or so…………….

Moving on yesterday was a quiet day here didn’t do much of anything and had Jessica and Leo turns up around lunch time for the rest of the day and last night.  I asked Jessica if she would stay last night and drive me over to the Mater (hospital) this morning I had to be there by 8.30am for my iron infusion. 

It all went well I did get cold and tired and had a little nap while there, I was told that it was common to be tired while having the infusion and for the first day of the procedure and over the next few days I should expect to have flu like symptoms. Right now I have a headache but nothing new there I often get headaches. 

We are in summer here in Australia but today it is cold and wet so cold that I had to have a hot bath with the heater on and right now I am wearing my winter pj’s and socks and slippers.  

I had to get my mum to pick me up at around 1.15pm this afternoon and bring me home, Jessica had gone back to her place and after she had been there a while she notice that there was workmen digging up the driveway doing some work on the speed humps so she was unable to get out which is why I told her not to worry about coming to get me.

Starting to feel like Christmas or I am so bloody busy

Ok I don't know if this will work but I am giving it a go, this is something I recorded yesterday while waiting for my bus and thought I would try to upload it here instead of transcriping it into a written post. If it doesn't play let me know and I will go back and transcripe it. I have removed the recording since it doesn't play which is a bumma...............

I have had a busy couple of days but at least I feel like I got stuff done, my house is looking more like Christmas so I am really starting to get excited about it. I wish I had thought to take some photos yesterday of the Christmas presents I had scattered across my lounge room floor. 

Anyway I will share here a few photos of my house and my Christmas decorations...........I don't have a lot and I no longer have a large tree maybe next year I will have a better tree hell I say that every year............lol

Just a Day in the life of.......................Me

My day I woke at 6.15 but had Leo laying in the nook of my arm so I just laid there and waited at 6.40 my arm felt numb so I moved him and got up and packed his food for day care. Then came and booted up the computer and checked a few emails read them didn’t respond then checked Facebook and now I have decided I will document my day in a couple of minutes I am going into get him dressed and yes he is still asleep but I will dress him while he is asleep and carry him to the car and take him to day care.

Mum rang and while I was on the phone to her Leo came out and said he had wet himself and the bed, he was wearing a night time nappy but it went through his nappy and clothes and onto the bed. I said its ok it was just an accident and nanna will fix the bed and he says you’re not angry and I gave him a hug and said of course not.

Then after getting him dressed for day care we head out to the car but first he asks for an ice cream to have on the way to day care and yes nanna gave him a rainbow paddle pop and then he hopes on my shoulders to go to the car. He rode up to the top of the driveway in the boot/truck remember I have a station wagon. 

Anyway when we get to the day care as we are crossing the rode yes he was on my shoulders again my sister Sandra turned up to drop of my niece Temika and he said we had to wait for them to walk in with us. 

The home to have breakfast disconnect the printer so I can take it into be repaired but first I had to update this.

Ok taken the printer in to be repaired and then went and bought bread while down the road I ran into my nephew Vaughan didn’t stop to talk just had a hug and a hi, now home for an hour then I will have to pop out again this time to go over to the Mater Hospital to see the blood specialist.  While I am home waiting to leave I am trying to make a few phone calls but of course I have to wait because all the customer service people are busy………………grrrr

Ended up hanging up on the customer service people as had to leave for the hospital, anyway I now have to have something called an iron infusion don’t know when they will ring me with the date and have to go back and see the doctor in April.   

Intravenous Iron Infusion

	iron may be given intravenously to replace iron in the body
	iron infusion has advantages: Rapid delivery of all the iron required to regenerate the Haemoglobin and red cell numbers and provide plenty of additional iron to lay down as stores to use over months to years. Avoidance of gastrointestinal side effects associated with oral iron Avoidance of potential flare of inflammatory bowel disease by oral iron therapy.
	Disadvantages and side effects include: Allergic reactions and anaphylaxis - this is the most serious problem. It is thankfully much less common now, due to improved iv iron preparations. A flu-like illness 2-3 days after iv iron is common; does not represent an allergic reaction; and settles spontaneously (paracetamol may help relieve symptoms). The need for hospital admission (as a day-case) for monitoring and safe administration of the drug, and need for an intravenous drip over 5-6 hours.
	The total dose iron infusion is designed to provide sufficient iron to allow normalisation of Hb and provide iron stores, which can be drawn-on in the future. Some practitioners give a smaller dose of iron which will not last as long. Jessica sent me a text asking if I would pick Leo up from day care and then she sent another one asking to stay here tonight, of course I told her I would get him and yes she can stay the night. Then I got a phone call from Kathy-Lee she was in tears, she had a fall at work and twisted her ankle she landed on her bum and was in a lot of pain and wanted to know if I would pick up Sydney-May from day care for her and of course I did. I asked her if she had filled in an incident report and she hadn’t and didn’t think it was worth it, but her dad talked her into ringing boss who was annoyed that she hadn’t filled it in she has to go in at 8.30 tomorrow morning to fill it in.

A Post About Nothing Much

  
What a couple of somewhat busy days I have had and tomorrow will be another one yesterday I was busy ironing and decorating the house for Christmas but in the end I only put up some of the decorating and did more today but still have a little more to do and no it is not like I have a big house or a lot of decorations. It is just that my back is pretty bad lately and I can not stand for very long without a lot of pain.......

Today we went to see nan as we do each Wednesday and she was ok, still in bed but as we were leaving they were getting ready to take her in for a shower.

I was suppose to go over to the hospital for an appointment this afternoon but they rang me at 1pm saying they would have to reschedule my appointment as the dotor was unavailable this afternoon.

As it turned out it was a good thing they did as it is now 6pm and Tim is still not home from work and I had to pick Leo up from day care, he hasn't rang me or anything so what would have happened if I had gone to the doctor who would had picked him up............

I have another appointment tomorrow morning at a different hospital with a different doctor hope that one doesn't get cancelled. I also have to go out and pick up a gift card that Kathy-Lee won yesterday, I entered a comp for her and me yesterday and she won the gift card lucky girl.

A few weeks ago Sydney-May dropped Kathy's near new camera and broke it this caused Kathy to cry non stop all day, we took it in to see how much it would cost to be repaired the cost is $178 she could buy another camera for that amount of money. I told her the bad news today and now she is depressed again.

Leo just came in and asked for a bath because he said he was playing and forgot he wanted to do a pee and wet his pants..............lol

Home Sweet Home..................Means Lots of Work.............

Well we are home at last we arrived home here last night at 11pm, it was a long day and it was not till around midnight when I went to bed and I was up at around 6.45am this morning because Little Leo came in and got into bed with us saying “you're home” and “I missed you” he then gave both me and papa a cuddle then he wanted to come out and watch TV and wanted his nanna to get up with him.............

Now I would like to say my first day home was great but that would be a lie, the microwave has packed it in and the dishwasher isn't heating up but I think it is still washing the dishes.........and I had to go and do some shopping and asked hubby for money and he transferred $100 dollars but when I went to withdraw some money there was only $9 in the account, I knew what had happened as soon as I realised the money was gone. All the bill money had been taken out as soon as Tim transferred the money into my account. So I sent him a text and told him what happened and what did Tim say “could you buy me a Big Mac on your way home, I knew when I got that message that he hadn't bothered to read the text I sent to him. So when I got home with his Big Mac I asked him if he had bothered to read the message I sent him and what does he say “what message” so I explained to him what happened and he said oh well I will give you another $100.........lol

I will post more about our holiday over the next few days, sorry if that bores you to much........lol

What I did realise while away was that I like using the laptop while it is sitting on my lap, well on a pillow on my lap and think I will be using it this way more of an evening so much more comfortable. I will also get more done by being able to put my feet up while using the computer.

One thing that is annoying is that as I mention in my last post Tim has stuffed up his laptop, by damaging the cord that charges it up. So we are unable to charge his computer which means we are unable to get the photos off the computer how frustrating..............lol Hopefully he will be able to get another cord soon. As I want to get the photos onto my computer as well as getting a bunch printed up and I will be buying a new photo album for the photos of the our New Zealand Holiday. I also need a new photo album for my postcards that I bought while away.

Cable Car, Ships and a dropped Laptop

Well this is our second last day in New Zealand and it has been a busy day, we went to breakfast at Macca's then we went on the cable car which was awesome took a bunch of photos, after that we went to the ship museum which was double awesome because it was free and have to say loved it well worth the visit.

After the museum we wondered around the town of Wellington for a bit then ended up at the Portrait Gallery which was also free. Today we tried to do mostly free stuff the only one we paid for was the cable car but that was only $6 each return.............The cable car goes up 610 metres.

Tim just dropped the laptop and stuffed up the cord so it isn't charging and it will die soon so I will wrap this up and will be able to read blogs again on Monday, as tomorrow it will be around 8pm when we get home..........

More About Our Holiday

Yesterday you may have notice I did two blog posts, why was that well I wanted to catch up.....lol

Anyway today is Friday and we were able to sleep in this morning getting up around 8.15am after breakfast and packing the car we set off on our last tour of the holiday, a wine tour which Tim would have liked more if he had been able to drink........................lol

However since he had to drive he wasn't able to do more than have a sip of wine and of course I don't drink wine the itinerary said the tour included a 2 course lunch but since there was only the 2 of us on the tour that didn't happen we got a platter instead which consisted mostly of sea food and  bread and I don't eat seafood .

We didn't enjoy this tour as much as the other ones, oh well such is life. After the tour we set off for Wellington and I am typing this up as we drive. Today has been a lot colder, in fact when we got up this morning the car and ground were wet where it had rained overnight. We stopped an hour ago at Maccas for a bite to eat and it was only 10 degrees outside had to have the heater on in the car for a bit but it is warming up again.

We arrived at the hotel in Wellington around 5.30pm this not the best place, we are on the fourth floor and the tv reception sucks…………….it does have good internet connection and has a bath that was good as I had a nice long bath but I am too tired to go out and eat……..
