Hey Hey its Saturday

Hey hey it's Saturday, and what a lazy Saturday I am having, I have done nothing much all day after sleeping in till 8.30am I got up checked emails, read some blogs and watched some telly so as I said nothing much happening.

How about everyone else, what have you all been up to?

It's another hot day here in Newcastle, I have recently turned the air conditioner on and you know what else my nose is going from blocked to running and it is driving me crazy, I have taken a couple of cold tablets which I hope will help soon.

Tim is at work so I am home alone, Jessica had asked me to go with her to drop Leo off, he has gone to a birthday party today for a school friend but when she didn't turn up I rang her and she changed her mind and had Tasha go with her instead.

Speaking of Jessica and Tasha they are spending a lot of time together this year, as Tasha is helping with Leo, spending time helping him do his homework and have to say there has been a big change in Leo he has come alone so much since she started working with him. However, Leo and Blain are spending too much time together some weeks and Blain really needs the weekend to have a break from Leo. When they are together they can be great but after a while they start to fight like brothers and that drives Tasha crazy.

I think I might have to have a nap this afternoon as all the tablets I have taken this morning are making me so tired and I need to take something for the headache I know have.

Thursday's News

Good morning all on this lovely warm Thursday morning, guess what I overslept this morning, first time I have overslept in ages. I woke up to the phone ringing, it was Blain wanting to know where nanna was, I quickly got dressed and left to get Leo to take him to school.

While he was sitting in assembly he didn't look good and I called him over to see what was wrong, he said he thought he was going to vomit and had a headache, the teacher came to see what was wrong and she told Leo that if he continued to feel sick the school would ring nanna to go and get him but the time being he could go and help another teacher with some stuff. So far haven't heard from the school so here's hoping he is ok.

My car is running but still doesn't sound great, but at least I have a car I can drive if it continues to sound like it is missing I will speak to Tim and see what he says.

You know what as I sit and write this I have a headache as well, so I am taking something for it. Ok I just walked into the laundry and I could smell bleach............what the hell............I think I might have used the bleach and water spray instead of the pre wash spray on Tim's shirts I can't do anything till the machine is finished, bloody hell I am hoping it will be ok and I haven't ruined his shirts. I usually have the bleach and water spray in the bathroom not the laundry which is why I think I made the mistake.

I picked up the parts for Natasha's car yesterday morning, mum drove me to get them on the way to the nursing home to see nanna. So now Tim and some guy from work have to find the time over the next few days to work on it and get it going.

Motivation Thursday will be back next week I just felt like telling you about my morning today.

Monday's Report

Hello Monday, what happened to Sunday, seems I forgot to write a post on Sunday, I did read about 40 blog posts but then sat down to watch telly and didn't get back to write a post, sorry for that, but I am here on this lovely Monday morning.

As most of the world will know there was a couple of cyclones here down under Marcia and Lam, neither of them were anyway near me, thankfully and none of my family were affected. The army has moved in to help with the clean up in Yeppoon and Rockhampton many homes are still without power although crews are working around the clock trying to get power back to homes and businesses. In Rockhampton generators were set up at traffic lights to keep them working and you know what happened some asshole went and stole them.

On the news here today is a lot of news about the Oscars, you know I don't watch award shows, never have enough time to waste doing so, for many years I use to watch the Logies which is Australia's television award show but I don't even watch them any more I can't stay up that late any more. Do you watch award shows? If so which is your favourite?

Tasha has came and picked Leo up to take him to school, as Tim doesn't want me to drive my car, the reason well it is missing and sounds like it is going to stall all the time it is being driven. When I mentioned it to Tim on Thursday he kind of just shrugged it off and thought I was over reacting but of course when he drove the car yesterday he changed his mind. He said he will get spark plugs and change them as he things that may be the many cause, last night he was out trying to get the spark plugs out but was unable to find the right spanner. I don't know what happened as I went to bed and left him to it, he was complaining that someone took his tools but I don't think that happened I think he has just misplaced them because his sheds are a total mess.

So I will have to get Tasha to also get Leo this afternoon, she will have to get one of the boys out early in order to get them both picked up this afternoon. I said I thought she should get Blain first as Blain last week asked a few times if he could see Leo's school. Yeah since she drove Jessica's car she has realised it isn't the big scary car she thought it was.

Last night when Leo had his bath he flooded the floor so much that the carpet in the hallway was wet with a nice puddle of water there, I was annoyed and a little bit angry, Leo said he was sorry and didn't mean to make such a mess. I ended up using 5 or 6 towels to mop up the water so of course this morning I am washing towels. My washing machine isn't dissolving the detergent and even the fabric softener and I was towels in fabric softener and when I went to get the towels out of the machine there was still undissolved stuff so I have had to run them through another wash this I find frustrating but little I can do about it. I can't afford to get another washing machine so I am just dealing like one does.

Saturday, 21 February 2015

Hey hey it's Saturday, and for the first time in ages we have Leo here in fact we have had him since yesterday afternoon. Jessica has gone to visit a friend who lives near Casino she left yesterday afternoon by train to go and see her, it was about a 9hr trip she will back by around 4am Monday morning in time for her to go to work on Monday morning.

Last night Tim was suppose to sleep in the spare bed but in the end he didn't because he came into give me a hug I was already asleep so only kind of remember him coming in and laying down and wrapping his arms around me, the next thing I knew it was 1am and Tim was home, I had to call for him to come and move Leo who was laying partly on me, like a dead weight.

I also had Sydney-May and Summer yesterday afternoon till Kathy-Lee finished work, in fact I picked Sydney-May up from school and Summer from day care and had them till 7.30pm, have to say the girls and Leo had a bloody wonderful time playing together.

Natasha borrowed Jessica's car and drove her to the train station, which was good meant I didn't have to do it, I was worried if I took her into the station Leo would get upset.

Ok not much today but at least you get some kind of post, I haven't been out today except when I went to take Natasha a box of Tiny Teddys, she is working well was working doing bus marshalling from 4am to 2pm and wanted something to nibble on. Kathy and the girls came over for an hour or so.

Oh yeah yesterday Michael flew to Brisbane to attend his grandmother's funeral he should be home sometime tonight, thankfully Brisbane wasn't affected by Marcia you know the cyclone that hit Queensland.

Motivation Thursday

The above is something we all should strive to do, however, standing tall and not allowing others to break us isn't always easy.

I am one of the luck ones, as in I am part of loving family, no abuse to be seen of anywhere and even though I have 4 younger siblings I have never been jealous of any of them. Envious at times yes but jealous never.

My parents never made me feel like I wasn't good enough, or that they thought one of my siblings was a better person, they love each of their children the same but differently also, this is because they accept that we are all different people.  We all have different personalities and that is ok with them.

As a child I hated school, I was picked on and teased for no reason just because and as such I hated school, didn't stop me going every bloody day though. I lived in my own world, it was like I had a bubble around me and the words and actions of others just bounced off. I remember thinking at times one day school will be done with and I will not have to see these idiot ever again.  Now that doesn't mean I didn't have friends at school I did but they were school friends not hang out with during the weekend of after school type friends, if that makes any sense.

I think many of us who develop ways of protecting ourselves from those who would like to break us in some sort of way, this I think is natural and helps us get through the difficult times. What is truly sad is that for some people life in its whole seems to be a difficult time and that as I said is truly sad.

I have always been one to go about my life with a smile on my face and I hope in my eyes and heart and yes at school there was times I was smiling to hide the pain of school, but many of us have done that I suspect.

Monday's Report

Good morning all yes it is still morning here in my part of the world, I didn’t do much in way of a post yesterday just didn't feel like it so you got nothing.............oh well today is a new day and my brain is working so hence I will write something.

Leo is still not wanting me to leave him at school, but his teacher says he is fine once I leave which is good. Sydney-May still loves school and loves to go each morning her mum has no problems with her, neither does my brother with Liarna but Sandy still has some problems with Temika although things have improved which is good at least things are getting better.

Mum told Sandy that our brother Dave cried everyday for about 3 weeks when he started school, although she had no problems with any of us girls wanting to go to school. Jeannie was like my daughter Jessica both of them didn't want mum to go to class with them or hang around at all on their first days.

Ok back again, just had to drop everything and go see to Natasha, she has had a minor car accident. She was stopped at a red light the light turned green the car in front starts to move off so she starts to move off as well and the first car the car in front of the car in front of her didn't move so he ran up the back of that car and she ran up the back of the car in front of her. Now she will need a new radiator, and the bonnet is bent out of shape, and I am going to have to see if I can get Tim to front her the money for the repair, as there is no way she is going to have it.

In other news yesterday morning Tim and I booked and paid for our flights to and from New Zealand and the first two nights in Christchurch we have booked for the 23rd of August and returning on the 31st August. Tim has at last agreed to do it my way, as in we find and book things ourselves and not use a travel agent, so we will see how that goes.

Oh yeah also Tim surprised me by taking me out for lunch yesterday for Valentine's Day yes it was a day late but he was working on Saturday so couldn't do it then and have to say it was a nice time out I really enjoyed it and so did Tim.

More About Valentine's Day

Guess what yesterday afternoon I was that tired that I posted the wrong post, what I posted was my information I used to write a post. This is the post I was going to post yesterday you now get it today.

Valentine's Day it's been around a while but do you know for how long, do you think it was a holiday invented by Hallmark to sell cards and a chocolate factory to see chocolate if so you are not quiet right.

There was in fact a St. Valentine he was a Roman Priest and lived way back when he was executed in 269AD on the 14th of February. He was buried at what is now the Church of Praxedes in Rome. It is said that Julia planted a pink-blossomed almond tree near his grave, which is why the almond tree remains a symbol of abiding love and friendship.

So the 14th of February became known as St. Valentine's Day and on that day messages of love, affection and devotion are exchanged around the world.

There are others who believe that Valentine's Day has it's roots in the ancient Roman festival of Lupercalia a fertility celebration and that it was Pope Gelasius who declared that the 14th of February was to be St. Valentine's Day. Which St. Valentine the pope intended to honour will forever remain a mystery: according to the Catholic Encyclopedia, there were at least three early Christian saints by the name Valentine. All three are said to have been martyred on the 14th of February.

So honestly I doubt we will ever really know from whence the day came.

What we do know is that over time the holiday evolved and around the 18th century, gift-giving and exchanging hand-made cards on Valentine's Day had become pretty common in England and other parts of the world, although it wasn't till around the 1850s that the idea took off in America. It was Esther A. Howland who first began to mass-produce cards for the holiday. Today, of course, the holiday is a big commercial thing with around 25% of all cards being sent being Valentine's Day cards.

Now Of course we all I think know what happened on Valentine's Day 1929, but in case you don't or have forgot that was the date of the Valentine's Day massacre. Five members of the North Side Gang along with gang collaborators Schwimmer and May were lined up against a wall and executed. They were shot with Thompson sub-machine guns one of which contained a 20-round box magazine and the other a 50-round drum. The victims were shot left and right and continued to be shot even after they hit the floor. In fact the seven victims were ripped apart in the volley and two shotgun blasts afterward all but the faces of John May and James Clark where obliterated according to the coroner's report. I could tell you more but I am not going to because well I don't feel like it.

History of Valentine's Day

Flowers, candy, red hearts and romance. That's what Valentine's day is all about, right? Well, maybe not.
The origin of this holiday for the expression of love really isn't romantic at all -- at least not in the traditional sense. Father Frank O'Gara of Whitefriars Street Church in Dublin, Ireland, tells the real story of the man behind the holiday -- St. Valentine.

"He was a Roman Priest at a time when there was an emperor called Claudias who persecuted the church at that particular time," Father O'Gara explains. " He also had an edict that prohibited the marriage of young people. This was based on the hypothesis that unmarried soldiers fought better than married soldiers because married soldiers might be afraid of what might happen to them or their wives or families if they died."

"I think we must bear in mind that it was a very permissive society in which Valentine lived," says Father O'Gara. "Polygamy would have been much more popular than just one woman and one man living together. And yet some of them seemed to be attracted to Christian faith. But obviously the church thought that marriage was very sacred between one man and one woman for their life and that it was to be encouraged. And so it immediately presented the problem to the Christian church of what to do about this."

"The idea of encouraging them to marry within the Christian church was what Valentine was about. And he secretly married them because of the edict."

Valentine was eventually caught, imprisoned and tortured for performing marriage ceremonies against command of Emperor Claudius the second. There are legends surrounding Valentine's actions while in prison.

"One of the men who was to judge him in line with the Roman law at the time was a man called Asterius, whose daughter was blind. He was supposed to have prayed with and healed the young girl with such astonishing effect that Asterius himself became Christian as a result."

In the year 269 AD, Valentine was sentenced to a three part execution of a beating, stoning, and finally decapitation all because of his stand for Christian marriage. The story goes that the last words he wrote were in a note to Asterius' daughter. He inspired today's romantic missives by signing it, "from your Valentine."

"What Valentine means to me as a priest," explains Father O'Gara, "is that there comes a time where you have to lay your life upon the line for what you believe. And with the power of the Holy Spirit we can do that -- even to the point of death."
Valentine's martyrdom has not gone unnoticed by the general public. In fact, Whitefriars Street Church is one of three churches that claim to house the remains of Valentine. Today, many people make the pilgrimage to the church to honour the courage and memory of this Christian saint.

"Valentine has come to be known as the patron saint of lovers. Before you enter into a Christian marriage you want some sense of God in your life -- some great need of God in your life. And we know, particularly in the modern world, many people are meeting God through his Son, Jesus Christ."

"If Valentine were here today, he would say to married couples that there comes a time where you're going to have to suffer. It's not going to be easy to maintain your commitment and your vows in marriage. Don't be surprised if the 'gushing' love that you have for someone changes to something less "gushing" but maybe much more mature. And the question is, is that young person ready for that?"

"So on the day of the marriage they have to take that into context," Father O'Gara says. "Love -- human love and sexuality is wonderful, and blessed by God -- but also the shadow of the cross. That's what Valentine means to me."

Motivation Thursday...........Mistakes

Do you learn from your mistakes, do you admit you made a mistake?
Maybe you prefer to bury your head in the sand and pretend you don't make mistakes, no person goes through life making no mistakes, mistakes are part of life, how we handle our mistakes kind of defines what type of person we are.
I like to think I have learnt from my mistakes, and yes I have in fact made some mistakes, as a young woman I thought I knew things and learnt that in fact I didn't know as much as I thought I did.
I have known some people who always would look for someone to blame for their mistakes, as they couldn't accept they made a mistake, it had to be someone else's fault. I do not think I did that, I did in fact tried not to blame someone else for my screw ups.
We learn from our mistakes and we can grow from them as well, yes some of  us have to make the same mistake a number of times before we learn anything.

Monday's Thoughts No It's Tuesday

Monday's thoughts no hang on it's Tuesday what happened to Monday, one minute it's here and now it's gone...........bugga........

Oh well lets start off Tuesday's thoughts, with something from Monday, when I went to drop Leo off at school he didn't want me to leave but because I had a doctors appointment I couldn't stick around till he went in like I often do. So I tell him this and try to leave and he follows me I speak to him again, give him a big hug and kiss and tell him I will see him in the afternoon and go to leave again he follows me so a staff member comes up and takes his hand and talks to him while I leave.

All good right, wrong I get out to through the office on the way to the car park and Leo comes running up to me crying and wraps his arms around my waist and says he wants me to stay, I had to walk him back in with his arms wrapped around me as he wouldn't let go. Another stuff member came up and spoke to him telling him I had to leave but he cried saying he wanted me to stay, I told her I would stay but I had a doctors appointment to get to at 9.15am and it was now 9.05am. In the end she had to pry him off me and hold him while I left to him crying out for his nanna, it was upsetting for me.

So I get to the doctors right on 9.15 and of course I cannot find anywhere to park so it was 9.30 by the time I got to check in with reception and another half hour before I saw the doctor and what did he say, well that he thinks I need to go back and see Dr Gibson the gastro doctor and there really isn't anything else I can take for the nauseousness, so now I have to wait to hear from a Dr Gibson.

Now let us move onto Tuesday, well this morning I was able to say with Leo till it was time to go into class and even then he didn't want me to leave and wanted me to go to class with him. Thankfully it only took a couple of minutes to get him to go to class and I was able to leave.

Tonight I have Blain as I do each Tuesday night and this week papa will be home from around 2.30pm so Blain will get to see his papa.

Sunday at my place

Well it is now Sunday afternoon and I am writing this from my brothers kitchen, why because I was asked to dog sit again while my brother and his family are in Sydney for the night Kayla and Leigh are going to the 1D concert and so the whole family went to Sydney for the night and if they are not here I have to dog sit. I asked Tim if he would give me money to get something for tea and he gave me about $9 which is good I think I will get a pizza.

Today there was just me, Tim and Jessica for lunch at my place we had streak and bacon and roast potatoes the frozen type roast potatoes which Jessica isn't that keen on and Tim said the steak was under-cooked, I said well you are the one who turned it out and told me I was overcooking it and didn't trust I knew what I was doing. Leo didn't come to lunch as he was grounded for stealing chocolate he knew he wasn't suppose to have Jess said it is becoming a real problem she has tried everything to get him to stop, she has smacked and yelled and explained it is not something she wants him doing at least he doesn't lie about taking and eating it. When asked if he took the chocolate he will say yes, when asked why he will say I felt like it or I was hungry. She didn't leave him home alone, she took him to Tasha's place and she made him do some homework type stuff.

On Friday Tim bought a can crusher to crush the soft drink cans before I toss them in the bag we collect them for the year and cash them in and share the money between the grandchildren. Anyway Tim is always at me to crush the cans, I told him to be just happy that I was keeping them anyway of Friday he bought the can crusher and wanted to put it outside I said it would be better to put it some place I would use it. So he must have been thinking about it and today he put it up on the back door so it is next to the bag I toss the cans in and as such I will in fact use it.

Well that is all I have for today, I will be back tomorrow to do some more blog reading as I do most days/

Hey Hey it's Saturday...................Pantyhose

Hey hey it's Saturday and what am I going to talk about today on this lovely not to hot nor to cold Saturday well I will tell you I am going to talk about stockings/pantyhose and yes I am sure I have mentioned in the past that I wear them but today I will tell you a little more about why I wear them and why I think some other women should wear them.

Yesterday while out shopping I was dressed in a nice dress with pantyhose and sandals and while I was rushing to the toilet I heard a couple of teenage girls say “why do people wear stockings” if I had not been in such a hurry I would have stopped and told them why I wear them, but as I said I was in a hurry and couldn't so now I am going to tell you.

I started wearing them in my 20's up until then I always wore thong sandals but in my 20's I wanted to wear other sandals and found I was unable to do so due to how much my feet sweet not just in summer but all year round. I had to have some kind of foot cover and back then you couldn't get footlets that just cover the foot.

I also started to have trouble with my thighs rubbing together and I was only a size 12 so found pantyhose very good they stopped my thighs chaffing and my feet blistering. As I got older I took to wearing shots under my skirt or dress over my pantyhose as my fat thighs would rub together I was not so fat but my thighs a different matter but that is for a different post.

Now that I am in my 50's I find my legs look better in pantyhose, I don't have the nicest looking legs, granted they are not that bad but like most women my age I have knees that look old. Only last week while out shopping I noticed a few women in short dresses/skirts with bare legs that looked terrible. They had old looking legs and I thought they would look so much more attractive in a pair of long pants or with pantyhose on to cover their legs. Now don't get me wrong if a woman is happy with her legs and doesn't mind having bare legs then that is all good but I know I myself feel better when I look in the mirror and see nice looking legs.

Of course I do not wear pantyhose with shorts that is just not a good look although 10 years from now I may feel different but I really doubt it................lol

I remember when Blain was a baby his other grandmother (fathers mum) told me I shouldn't be wearing stockings with sandals as it was not the done thing, I told her well for me it is a necessary. Also for many years I was unable to buy sandal thongs they were not common, like they are now in summer I usually wear them and such I do not wear pantyhose but if I am wearing a short dress or skirt with normal sandals I will wear pantyhose.

I also wear knee high stockings a lot and ankle high ones under long pants or skirts for me it is a necessity if you can see my knees then I am going to have them covered with a pair of pantyhose. So if you see a woman wearing them you shouldn't judge her since you do not know what the reason behind her wearing them is, yes it maybe a fashion statement but it also may be a necessity. Oh yeah I also only wear black pantyhose and knee highs

So what is your take on them?

Nothing much except my grandchildren

Well I am late getting around to writing a post today, no real reason just didn't feel like it earlier, I had to go to the library after I took Leo to school to return a book and re-borrow it, I couldn't renew the loan as I had already done that once.

Tonight we have Blain here for the night, he doesn't have his xbox and have to tell you when his mum said he wasn't bringing it, he said I am going to be sooooooooo bored. So I told him he was free to come but no complaining about being bored I am just not going to put up with that.

I am so tired this afternoon, I could go to sleep right now and it is only 5.30pm think I am in for an early night.

I really don't have any news and can't think of anything interesting to write about so not getting much today from me. I will share a photo of my granddaughter Sydney-May on her first day of school which was yesterday.

It was also Liarna's and Temika's first day of school

Shoes...........where are his shoes................oh yeah right where I left them

It's Monday here and I am sitting and waiting for Jessica to drop off Leo for me to take him to school, I think she is dropping him off here, ok I rang Tasha and asked if Leo was with her and he was so had to drop everything and go over there to get Leo and guess what I did I forgot his shoes so Tasha watched him while I popped around his place and no there were no shoes there for him. So I had to come back here to find shoes and then back to Tasha's to pick him up and take him to school and of course we were late but no too late the children were sitting at an assembly and I hung around to listen to the assembly and Leo's name was called out for a birthday certificate but he wouldn't go and get it. A teacher asked him why he didn't go up and he said he had his birthday already and didn't need to have everyone sing happy birthday to him again.

So then I come home and Kelli is here she needs to use the computer to apply for the child care benefit as she is putting Daemon into Day Care one day a week a the day care just down from her place. This will be good for Daemon as like many young children he only socialises with his brother and cousins and he doesn't see his cousins every week. She is only starting with one day a week.

I mentioned before about Dawson's brother Landon and how the Department of Children's services or Doc’s wanted to take him into care, well last week Michelle had to go to court about him and he was placed into the care of Dave & Leigh for those who don't know Dave is my brother Leigh is his wife and Dave is Dawson's father. How long he will remain with them is unknown they go back to court on the 19th but we expect him to stay with Dave & Leigh for a long time to come. At least he isn't with strangers and even though we are not blood relatives we are family and the only family Michelle & Allen have. Yes Michelle's mother is alive but she isn't a mothers asshole and Doc's don't want her to have any contact with Landon or Dawson at all and yes Michelle does have some siblings but she has nothing to do with any of them and most of them mental health problems and disabilities. Michelle is very grateful to Dave & Leigh for stepping up and taking Landon into their home, and he is at last sleeping and eating better while his mum has been in hospital he stopped eating and was not sleeping well either.

Last night Tim and I were watching The Royal Bodyguard with David Jason and I think the show is bloody funny and was laughing my head off and you know what Tim says to me he thinks the show is funny just not that funny.

Ok I should post this while it is still Monday morning, I started writing the post 3 hours ago.............

Week 51 of 2024

I had a good night slept straight through again, it isn’t hot yet, but it is somewhat sticky. It is 21 degrees at 6am and my BGL is 4.4 ...
