FFact Day

Another Monday, another day for facts...........

Although modern images of India often show poverty and lack of development, however,it was the richest country on earth until the British invasion on the early 17th century.

Cuba in the only island in the Caribbean to have a railway.

The first documented lighthouse was as Alexandra built in 200BC on the island of Pharos by the Egyptian Emperor, Ptolemy.

It is considered one of the seven wonder of the world, it is thought to have been 150 metres or 492 feet high about 3 times higher then modern lighthouses.

Roman Emperors built many lighthouses to assist their navigators. In 90AD the Emperor Caligula ordered a lighthouse in the country and stills stands in the ground of Dover Castle.

  4. Dearest Jo-Anne,
Sure India knew riches but for sure not for ALL people, only the privileged few.
We have seen such palaces and other mind boggling buildings from that era.
Makes you always ponder how some people had to get by...
    Hugs,
    Mariette
