Meals.............and cooking

Do you cook more or less as you get older, do you find yourself wondering why you bother cooking a meal when no ones wants to eat it when it is done?

What is the best meal you have ever cooked, do you have a favourite dish to make?

Is that dish something you love to eat or is it something you make because the kids or the other half love it.

Now that it is just me and Tim here I do not cook very often at all, I do have times when I will invite the girls over and I will make a Sunday lunch but daily I don't cook very often why because I am fed up with making a meal and having Tim say he isn't hungry. So I will make something for myself and let Tim make his own tea when he is ready for it.

We do eat a lot of frozen meals and will often have chips with our meat instead of vegies. Growing up we always had meat and vegies when dad was home but when dad was at work we would often just have eggs or toasted sandwiches for tea.

I remember a few years ago thinking it was stranger that my parents didn't have proper meals any more but now I get it.

A Couple of Awards and it's only Monday

First up I want to say thank you to Bev who can be found here:

http://blackinkpaperie.blogspot.com.au/ for the following awards

Now that is done I can move on to this post what is it about, well nothing much again it is now 3pm and I have had my bath and I am in dressed in my jammies. This is because over the weekend we bought some drawers for the spare bedroom and today I took the in and did a clean up and clean out this took me about an hour & a half and by the time I was finished I was dripping in sweat and so exhausted so I decided to go and have a bath and after my bath I thought do I want to get dressed again...........the answer was NO..............I am not going to leave the house again add to that it is dark and wet outside and it just feels like one of those days that being in your jammies is good.

The drawers we got for the spare room are not the type I wanted I wanted to get good ones made from wood and these ones that come in a flat box and assemble yourself as I do not think they last very long but hubby was like I will use wood clue and they will be fine........only time will tell who was right...........

This morning I went with mum to an apointment at the hospital she had to see the Gynaecologist and found out she is now number 16 on the waiting list for surgery. Speaking of mum she had another ct scan done on Friday and now has to wait to see the Kidney specialist I think they are nephrologists. Not that it is important what you call them as long as they know what they are doing...........lol I hope she doesn't have to wait to long to see the specialist.

After I got home from being out with mum, I had just enough time to come inside go to the toilet and then Jessica was here, she wanted me to go with her while she bought a new tablet, her ipad died last night after it slide of the back seat of her car and got wet from a bottle of cleaning stuff that had been left in her car and had leaked.

I then came home had lunch and then decided to do the spare room and now I am using the computer and doing a blog post. I managed to read a dozen or so blogs before mum picked me up this morning and I read the rest when I got home before having lunch.

The day has been go go go since getting up and I just realised it is only Monday..............lol

Air Conditioning, Shopping and New Shoes

Hi everyone it’s is now Saturday afternoon and I have had a long busy day, this morning I went shopping for a yellow polo shirt for Little Leo for school he needs one for sport but I have not been able to find one for him and it is so bloody frustrating. I went to 2 Kmart’s, 2 Targets 2 Best & Less, 1 Aldi and 1 Big W store and none of the them had shirts in his size.

Yesterday I was flat out like a lizard drinking all day also but that is pretty normal for a Friday but I also had to pop down to Jessica’s place to drop of some stuff that I had bought while out shopping.  Did get some good news yesterday my sister Sandy doesn’t have Cervical Cancer………only a bacterial infection and the antibiotics have worked and she is feeling better.

This afternoon we have both grandsons here they both want to stay the night and we have said yes as long as they settle down when they are told to tonight if not then I will be taking Blain home, so I guess we will just have to wait and see. At the moment they are playing in a bedroom. If anyone reads this and wonders why I would take Blain home and not Leo it is simple it would take only 10 minutes to take Blain home and 40 minutes to take Leo home…………….

Got a question for you do you have the windows up in your car when the air conditioner is going or do you sometimes have it on and the windows down?

I was thinking about this  while I was out today as it was bloody hot, ok it is still bloody hot but that is not the point I went out to Glendale shopping centre and they have no undercover parking so the car got bloody hot.  Anyway when I got back into the car I turned the air conditioning on and yes I only drove a short distance and I went from Kmart to Aldi and they are at different ends of the centre anyway the car didn’t cool down at all. Now when I got in the car after I had popped into Aldi to head home I turned the air con on but also had the windows down and I notice the difference immediately, it was such a big difference.

While I was out this morning I managed to buy myself a new pair of shoes for only $5 yes $5 and they are great they are black heels which I have wanted for a while as all my black shoes are semi flat shoes.

I have been looking for some ¾ pants as the pair I am wearing has a hole and this is the last pair I have left. I checked out all the stores listed above and found nothing, not a single bloody pair. I may check out a few sites online.

Koombahla Nursing Home

Well yesterday turned out to be another busy day didn’t get around to doing a post but did manage to read something like 30 plus blogs and read all the comments on my last post just didn’t reply to them, all those who commented please forgive me for not replying.

Anyway as everyone knows I go and visit my Nan on Wednesday and yesterday was no different, she was up and dressed and down in the lounge room area. On the way home mum had a phone from the nursing home, they are moving Nan to a different room since the woman she shared with passed away over the weekend. They want the room for a married couple and mum understands that we remember what it was like we had to wait to get a room that Nan and pop could share.  The only thing that worries us and I know how it is going to sound but anyway we worry that pop may not know where nan is, since we believe he is still there with her, I told mum he will follow nan to the new room and if Temika says he isn’t there then I will walk around to the old room and tell him where nan is……………..remember pop passed away on the 4th November 2010

Well I thought I would tell you about the nursing home she is in the name of the place is Koombahla it is an Aboriginal name and it means “gum trees” not that there are any gum trees on the property. It is a UnitingCare place and is home to 108 residents with 64 of them requiring high care of which Nan is one. It has a variety of activities for the residents such as concerts and outings there is also a staying active program for the low care residents.

Nan has been a few outings and likes to go to the concerts as she loves music. The rooms are either single or double rooms which we like, the place my Aunty Joyce was in had a number of rooms housing 4-6 people.  Each room has a flat screen TV and built in wardrobe and of course the building is secured the residents can’t just wonder out as there is a button to press to open the doors. Someone like Nan wouldn’t know how to open the doors and the ones that do would be low care and they are allowed to leave the building.

They provide all the following services: Physical Therapy Nurses, Podiatrist, Church Service and Pastoral care support, a facility GP, open visiting hours and a hair & beauty salon which is good we still get Nan’s hair done once a month.

There are some things that the brochure says they have that I have never seen such as, a Library with computers, a pool table  and vegetable and flower garden but then I have only been to the high care part and I guess those things may be in the low care part…………
All in all we are happy with the place, before she was transferred to this place nan was in another nursing home at Fingal Bay and that place we did not like at all…………….

Also the nursing home my Aunty Joyce was in was a dump compared to this place.

I was Pampered a Little Today

Today has been a wonderful relaxing day thanks to Bethany who can be found here: http://projectwhitespace.com as I wrote in this post: http://jo-annemotherandnanna.blogspot.com.au/2012/12/thank-you-doesn.html she gave me a wonderful gift of a gift voucher for this place: http://www.indulgences.com.au.

Well today I went and had a Pedicure which took 50mins and consistered of a Foot soak, exfoliation, shaping, cuticle treatment, buff, hard skin removal, massage and polish.  See my pretty feet................lol

I also had Indian Head Massage this took 30minutes and it was wonderful I loved it and would recomend it to anyone and everyone.

Indian Head Massage is a treatment based on old Ayurvedic techniques, which help to balance the vital energies within the body and helps to improve health. This treatment involves work on the upper back, shoulders, neck, scalp and face. Indian Head Massage will soothe away stress and tension, leaving you relaxed, revitalised and re-energised. This is a very popular treatment, perfect for promoting a calm mind, a stress-free body and for maintaining optimum health.

I seen by Samantha and she was great she had such soft hands and made me feel so welcomed and relaxed.

So again I want to say a huge thank you to Bethany for this wonderful gift........

What a day........................at least it is still Monday and not Tuesday

What a day I have had and it is only 2.30pm ok let me say that again what the hell it's 2.30pm already where has the day gone.........now that sounds more like how I feel. So what have I been doing to day well this morning after breakfast I read some blogs and then popped down to the shops to get a few things.

At 9.30am my niece Kelli arrived and asked me to help her with something and I did we got back here around 11ish and Kathy was here waiting for me to go shopping with her for some baby stuff. When I got home after doing that there was a usb drive here for me. Natasha wanted me to print up some photos for her of her house she is still having problems with her room leaking so she has taken photos and has gone to see our local member of parliment and he has given her a form to fill in and take to the Dept. of Housing and from the time she hands it is they will have 30 days to have the problem fixed.

After printing up the photos some of which didn't turn out very well (ran out of ink) Natasha wanted me to take them over to her place for her.  So I have done those things and have now sat down to write this but you know what, I got side tracked by looking for a new flash drive (usb drive) that I know I bought a few weeks back and have not been able to find. I haven't asked hubby if he has seen it but I will when he gets home but I expect him to say NO.

It is now 2.56pm and I should be finished running around for the day and can relax a little more hubby should be home in an hour or so............oh yeah this morning my mum rang me and said tomorrow when we go to the see nan we will have to do something else as well, so that made me think today was Tuesday and on Tuesday I have an appointmet at 11.30am so I thought I wouldn't be able to go shopping with Kathy and expected her to get pissy with me but as it turned out today is Monday I had not lost a day and all was good.

My other grandson Blain

I often talk about Little Leo but today I am going to talk about “My Blain” my oldest grandson who is now 7yrs old. When he was a baby he loved his nanna (me) so much and would always prefer to be with me over papa or marmo (his father’s mother).  He goes to Shortland public school and is in 2nd class; he lives with his dad from Monday to Friday and goes to his mother’s from Friday afternoon till Monday morning.  According to his dad (Jono) he is happy living with him and according to his mum (Natasha) he often wants to go back to living with her, I think he may want to go back to his mums during the week at times because his dad can be stricter then his mum.  I think many mothers are not as strict as dad can be, not saying all mothers because I am sure there are some bloody strict mothers out there. However I know my daughter and I know she can be a bit of a softy at times and at other times she can be a bit over the top with discipline.

Anyway moving on Blain is a very loving boy he loves his little brother “Daemon” who will be 1 later on in the month. He also loves his cousin Leo and when Leo and Blain are together they like to run amok and are loud and so full on……………..lol

After he started school I went from having him one night a week till only having him sometimes during the school holidays, we would have him more during the school holidays but he gets bored here and often will say after a few hours that he wants to go home.

Blain often will call me his “fat nana” does this bother me………………..no…………………I see it has him just saying it how it is, I know he doesn’t say it to hurt me and I have no doubt that he loves me so much just like he did when he was a baby. He often will call my mum his “nanna with the yellow hair” he told me last time he was here that his misses his other nanna the one with the yellow hair, then he said you know “your mother” that nanna………….so I took him with me over to my parents’ house for Sunday lunch.

Blain loves his superheros and this is a picture of him dressed as Spiderman and this is a photo of him giving his brother a cuddle, and the last photo is of Blain and Leo on Christmas morning.

Week 32 of 2026

Had a decent enough sleep but I’m not good this morning, tremor wise. I suspect this is due to me feeling like I have a cold or flu. I hav...
