Are You The Person You Always Thought You Would Be

This morning I woke up tired and I am still tired part of me says go and have a nap part of me can't be bothered so I will be having an early night again which seems to happening a lot lately early nights that is not waking up tired I rarely wake up tied.

Jessica has asked me if we can change the night Leo stays from Wednesday till Tuesday, it is all the same with me so I said it would be fine to change...........moving on to today’s post……

Are you the person you thought you would be or want to be or would you like to be someone else, and I am not talking about a job or whether you are married or single I am talking about who you are? The type of person you are both good and bad. When you think of yourself do you like who you are the way you act with people, the way you act when you are alone the way you feel inside.

Do you ever wish you were someone different that you had turned out different are you the person you always thought you would be when you were little.

When I was a child I never gave much thought to what type of person I would be when I grew up but I can say with all honestly that I am very happy with who I am. I know that I am a good hearted person and that I treat people as I would like them to treat me.

I have a wonderful family and I do try and make sure that they know I love them and that I am proud of them.

  1. Dearest Jo-Anne,
Oh, this is interesting post to read your friends' comments. I think we all tend to have the character which we don't like a bit.
Well, for myself I am happy to have much more concentration compared to when child. (haha, maybe natural for anyone). On this point, kind of a happy surprise not the person I thought I would be!
    Love you always, xoxo Miyako*

  2. That is a really great, and kind of tough, question to answer. I think that I was a lot like you growing up - never gave it much thought. I do remember thinking that I didn't want to grow up because the adults around me didn't seem to be having much fun. I'd say I have actually surprised myself and am really happy with who I am today. I am very loving and helpful to friends and would give anyone the shirt off my back if they needed it. I will probably never be rich but I did inherit a large amount of money when my mother dies and I gave quite a chunk of it to my church back home so they could get a new roof and also to a children's charity and I'm happy that I did that even though I'm broke now and wish I had invested more of it wisely. It felt great to help out, though, and I'm glad I did. I made a lot of bad choices growing up but I feel like I've been able to make up for some of that in my adult life by helping others and so I'm very happy with who I am right now. I may not be famous or rich or the most beautiful or the most thin but inside I am beautiful and I know my heart is in the right place. I admire the way you care for your family and how you devote yourself to them. I think that is the most important thing a person can do. You are beautiful! I love the way you engage your readers on your blog by asking these types of questions. Great post!

  3. This is a great "deep-thoughts" post Jo-Anne, my favorite kind!:-) My life has turned out much differently than I anticipated, and of course that's largely due to the choices I've made along the way, sometimes good and often not so good. But I can honestly say at 58 that I am happy (ok 95%) with who I am and what I am and how I live my life. Sure there are a few tweaks I'd like to make - such as the way I take care of myself and my motivation to get off the chair, and a few things I doubt I'll ever change - such as my dislike of large crowds and social situations in such places. But overall, I see myself as a good person, who puts her heart into her relationships and trys to sperad a bit of sunshine in lives. I have a wonderful husband that makes my world complete and a bunch of furkids who adore me. If I was going to die tomorrow I'd say that I've had a good life all in all. I think the secret is learning to see the good in what you have and not always wanting or wanting to be something else! Great post, and I'm happy you are content with your life too. Maybe it's an easier perspective as we get a bit older?

  4. I feel I have always been a work in progress. (And it has been hard work--LOL!) I am delighted that I have made more progress with who I am than I expected thus far. I like myself better and better as I have gotten older. Who I am as a person, as a human being, has always taken top priority. What a great question! :)

  5. What a deep, deep question. One could think on this question, for hours.

    Don't remember planning how-to-be-"me," when a child.

Am I the person I want to be, now? Not always. Guess I like Rita's idea (above) of being a work in progress. Because we are always evolving. Really.

We change. We change and change and change and change and change. Sometimes, we like the changes. Sometimes, we don't. And it can't hurt to ponder on this.

Only trouble could come, if one allows guilt to seep in, when thinking of our not-so-wonderful moments. Luckily, I gave up guilt, in 2000. But this too, is a work in progress.

Ol' Guilt is deeply engrained and takes constant vigilence, to get rid of.

Thank you for asking a deep question! I love asking questions, in blogging, and seeing the comments back, from Dear Readers. It feels more like a dialogue. Than blogging feeling just like my having said something in print, myself. When people answer back, it's *dialogue-ish.* <---New word! :-)

    Peter: You're a good guy.
Lincoln: Yeah. I'm a good guy.

  7. I'm probably closer to that person than I think I am. Nonetheless, am happy with who I have become, more or less.

  8. i was becoming that person 6 years ago and i got scared and ran! i moved to the worst place to evolve EVER! but slowly i'm srarting to climb that wall again. it mat take a lifetime but you know what it's the journey and not the destination that matters!

  10. This is going to sound really pompous to anyone who doesn't read my blog and know my past...but you asked if we're where we thought we'd be, either good or bad and were we happy with it.

I've exceeded my expectations of where I thought I'd be twenty three years ago. My goals have changed drastically, thank God. I'm proud of who I am even when I'm alone.

I may have made some poor life choices, but I learned from them and I continue to learn and teach my children not to repeat my mistakes...

    Great post!!!

  12. Let me say first off I love the replies I have recieved for this post yes it was a bit of heavy post and I knew it would make some of you think maybe for the first time about who you are as I don't think most of us give it a lot of thought.........

Miyako.......Yes I think there are bits of ourselves that we may not like but if we can look at ourself and think I am a good person I have a good heart then we are lucky

Jenn.....I guess it could be a tough question I didn't think of it being a tough question when I asked it..........lol

Thank you for saying you think I am beautiful yes my family mean a lot to me.

I think it is great that you gave money to the church for a new roof doing something like that would give anyone a good feeling.....

Josie.......Yes I think for a lot of us as we get older our perspective of things becomes a little easier and we except things easier and go with the flow more.

We need to look at our lives as a whole in order to judge whether it is how the life we want

Rita.....I think we are all a work in prgress as we age we change it is normal the way it is suppose to be......

"Auntie" sezzzzzz...I also am trying to leave guilt behind and tell myself that feeling guilty will not change anything so put mistakes behind me and just move forward.....

Momto8......Yes I do think a lot of who we are has to do with how we think of ourselves so we should be having postive thoughts

CW.....Well I think most of us would say we are happy more or less who is 100% happy with who they are we are all a work in progress

Tim......Sometimes becoming someone we are happy with is a lot of hard work but it is worth the work we need to be happy with who we are before we can be happy with others.......

Madeleine.....I am pleased you liked the question and yes for some it may be a day to day thing

Elsie....Your answer doesn't sound pompous to me but then I have read some things about your past and I think you have come a bloody long way and you should be proud of who you have become and I think you set a good example to your children of what a person can achieve. Yes your life hasn't been all sunshine and roses but whos life is it is the thorns of your life that make you so special......

  13. Becca.....It is the inside us that we need to like and when we can say we like that person we are doing pretty good
