Do you know someone who never seems to think before they
open their mouth so they are always ending up with foot in mouth disease?
Or do you know someone who has a habit of coming across as
rude or abrupt and they are clueless as to why people may think in such a way
about them and really it is only because they don’t think before they speak.
Then there are people who don’t seem to realise what they
are saying will offend people.
I try to think before I speak I don’t like to offend people
but many years ago my sister Sue would use words like abrupt, aggressive, rude and harsh to describe me can you believe that.
However, back then Sue and I didn’t get along like we do now days. In truth I
think Sue thought that I thought I was better than her which I have never done.
Now Tim’s family have always thought of me as being aloof
and rude and kind of snobbish because well I did/do think I am better than most
of them…………lol

Ha! You crack me up. I do try to think before I speak, but it doesn't always work out like that...
ReplyDeleteDo I, I didn't think I was that funny............
DeleteIt's so much safer to be slow to speak. I wish I didn't jam my foot in my mouth so often.
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean I have a sister who always has her foot in her mouth.......
DeleteI think you are lovely and funny and I always get such a smile when I see you have left a comment.
ReplyDeleteI don't always understand peoples impressions of me, I guess I am different things to different people.
Thank you I do love your blog too..........I agree I think different people see us in different lights.....
Deletei say the rudest most abrupt things but no one ever gets mad at me. i think it's my southern alabama drawl and that i look them directly in the eyes and smile when i do it. i always say vinegar goes down easier with a good ole dose of honey!
ReplyDeleteYou rude Timmy never.........lol but you may be onto something I think a southern drawl is cool.......lol
DeleteI used to be abrupt and direct when voicing my opinion. Now I've learned the importance of using tactfulness to express my opinion. No one wants to listen to anyone when they think they are being talked down to or judged. They want to know they are being heard and that their opinions are valued, I think.
ReplyDeleteYes I have become more tactful as I have gotten older but at the same time I have become more assertive if that makes any sense
DeleteThis me, ha, ha! Most of my friends think of me as like a little "lamb," but my family somes says I have a way of "telling it like it is." I guess I am not worried about what my family thinks! I am working on myself to think about what I say before I say.
ReplyDeleteI always say I am a nice person just go and ask anyone who barley knows me and they will tell you so, just don't ask my family they might tell you the truth...........lol
DeleteI'm basically an in-head-out-mouth type of person, but I always try to be tactful because I never like to hurt anyone's feelings. I am much more likely to say something to embarrass myself because I'm pretty much an open book. Luckily my son is used to me and has a great sense of humor. My DIL had to get used to me--LOL! But everyone who knows me knows I am honest and will always have their best interests at heart and am in their corner. :)
ReplyDeleteYou sound like my sister Sue she is like that which is why her foot is often in her mouth........lol However she is a wonderful sister and we get along just great now........
DeleteDearest Jo-Anne,
ReplyDeleteWow, I need this in my mind, haha. I tend to speak and express my feeling first and think. So I might sound abrupt and direct. Sometimes it might work better but I think Ishold be more deliberate(*^_^*)
Love you always, xoxo Miyako*
I am usually thought of as being aloof but really I am just shy......that is until I have a few drinks then I am very friendly and open........lol
DeleteI have been told sometimes that I should think before I speak. :)
ReplyDeleteI think many of us do not always think before we speak.....so you are not alone
DeleteThe truth is .... Sometimes. Sometimes what comes out is appalling and sometimes I'm brilliant. But it is mostly not what I had intended... sigh!!!
ReplyDeleteYeah sometimes when we open our mouths we don't know what is going to come out..........just ask my sister Sue............lol
