What I think about Current Affairs...................if you would like to know

1.) How up on current events are you?
Pretty much I like to watch both A Current Affair & Today Tonight both of which ate current  affairs shows.
2.) Do you watch, listen to, or read the news? Where do you get it from?
I like to watch the news each night, I rarely read the paper
3.) Do you use social networking to find out about world events?
No not really I notice things on it but it is not a go to place for such news for me
4.) What is one news-like event that has happened in your city recently?
A fire, there was a house fire recently
5.) Would you like to be more or less aware of things happening in the world?
Neither I am happy with how much news I hear/see as it is...............sometimes I think we get news overload.

To end this I will add that I remember when I was in high school thinking the news was full of violence and since then it has become more violent, because there is more violence in the world.
One thing that does annoy me about our current affair shows is that they have a habit of repeating themselves every few months, they also like to bag the big supermarkets the ones that offer fuel discount vouchers if you spend over $30.  They say we are paying for the discount voucher via higher prices in the supermarket, but let's be honest here if they did away with the fuel discount vouchers the shelve prices of goods will not come down. So the way I see it is that I have to do grocery shopping so if I can get a fuel discount voucher when I do so I will, any saving is a saving.
Does anyone else find that the current affair show they watch is often repeating themselves of bagging on someone, it is like there is not enough new things happening that they have to do the same old thing over and over again.

  1. Yes Jo-Anne, The Current Affairs programs on the TV are repeats of old stories with different interviews with different people etc. but once in a while something new pops up.
News, I like to hear the news and usually read it on my phone, I use Twitter and follow the 'news' people from all over the world, it's easier the FB for that sort of thing, well the way I won't it I guess.

  3. Yes, I see that here as well. It's like on a slow news day the start up again on an old topic. But even on the morning shows here, every hour of the 4 hours that The Today Show runs, they cover the same stories. Over and over. I usually turn it off after the 1st hour.

  4. I agree - we need less bad news and more good news. We are driving ourselves crazy!

  5. I'm completely hooked on current affairs and have the 24-hour news channel going whenever I'm at home. That way I get the media's version of what's happening around the world. Sure, I often swear at the TV but at least it gets a reaction. I don't like online news much. I read newspapers every day to see what Mr Murdoch wants me to think.

Great post. Just a pity most of the reported news is bad news when there's plenty of good things happening...hm, let me think...there must be something...er...er...

    1. I will often watch Sky news and love the weather channel, and I agree I wish the good news items would be first on the news instead of last as if they are an afterthought.

  6. I stopped watching the news when so many people, including children, were murdered at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Connecticut. I get along just fine without knowing what goes on out in the big bad world.

    1. I hate to watch stories that have children being hurt, I am like my grandmother in that regard, she use to say I know it happens I just don't have to hear about it.

  7. I totally read the news on the internet. Rarely do I watch it on TV. The shooting spree violence is what seems to have increased so much. It's so scary - seems no where is safe.
