Comforting A Stranger

Today while out shopping I came across a young girl on her phone crying, she was talking to the father of her son and she was telling him that all she wanted was for him to take and interest in their son. She was crying so much and saying she didn't need this shit from him. I hated hearing this and couldn't help myself I had to go over to her and give her a hug and told her if he was being an ass to hang up. She buried her head in shoulder area and cried a bit more and I told her that she should never let anyone tell her she isn't a good mum and that she was doing the best she could.

She said her ex never wanted anything to do with their son and does nothing but complain about having to pay child support and the reason he rang her was to abuse her for letting his mother spend time with their child. Seems he doesn't get along with his mother and was upset that she did, she told me that his mother was a nice lady and she could see no reason to not let her see her grandchild.

I reasured her that she was doing the right thing letting her see her grandson as some girls would not be so nice.

  2. i agree the grandmother should see the child, but the mother shouldn't try to make him take an interest the kids better off with as little contact as possible. people who don't want you around will only ruin your self esteem and make you feel worse! bless you for offering comfort hopefully she'll pay it forward (a beautiful concept!) xoxoxoxoxo

  3. That was very sweet of you Jo Ann.

I know when my ex was alive and he wouldn't see the kids for months on end how hard it was on them. I had to constantly tell them "stories" to explain his absence, but I have never been able to erase the pictures of them hanging by the door on Fridays, waiting in vain for him not to show up.

  4. That was really sweet of you to step in like that, Jo-Anne. Poor girl - aren't some men just the pits. It was lovely that she was letting the grandma see the child. Some women have it quite hard, even in this day and age, I think. Let's hope that the girl finds someone decent before too long.

  6. Hi Mynx

Thank you I just couldn't walk past her and pretend I saw/heard nothing.

    Hi Tim

Yeah I agree someone should not be made to see their child if they do not want to. I did tell her if he didn't see his son the it was his lost and she couldn't make him do anything.

    Hi Skippy

Yep that would really piss me off and it is the children who suffer the most but not by much as the other parent suffers too as they are the one who has to try and explain why their other parent wants nothing to do with them.

    Hi Thisisme

Thank you I just had to say something. She was only a small thing much like my second daughter and maybe that had something to do with me needing to get involved.

    Hi Toni Rose

I think every one needs a hug at some point and I just had to give her one.

  8. very sweet of you to do that. my daughter's ex-husband is remarried to a gal with 6 or 7 kids. he shows absolutely no interest in isaiah and even does not list him as one of "his" kids on his facebook profile. he even had the nerve to send amy a letter and say he doesn't know why he has to pay child support anyway (he's ove $11,000 in the hole). they can be such asses.

i hope she is able to move on and see how much better off they probably are.

    Hi Teresa

Sounds like your daughter is better off without him but it is the child who suffers, for the love of me I do not understand men like that.......
and it is these assholes that give many men a bad name.

    Hi Jen

    Thank You
