Confrontation

I don't like confrontation, how about you?

I am not one to get into a fight with the neighbours, although many years ago it did happen but only the once, and it wasn't just me it was Tim as well. I don't remember what we were fighting over but it was not nice and it left me feeling uneasy.

There are other people around here who for years seemed to enjoy getting into fights with their neighbours, they must had enjoyed it as they did it so much.  We had a many fights here years ago, not so much now days though.

Jessica said that she has a couple of neighbours who like to fight one lives up the top of the driveway near the road, the other lives down the end of the driveway so they will walk and meet in the middle and have a fight. Jessica lives in the middle so they are usually fighting out the front of her place.

When your neighbours are fighting what do you like to do, shut the doors and windows and pretend you can't hear them? Or do you like to watch and listen as long as they don't know you are watching?

I am one of those who likes to watch and listen but from the safety of my own house, with the doors closed and me hidden from view.

So if you were out and you came across a fight what would you do?

Me I would try and get somewhere out of sight where I would not get involved and watch, yes that might make me sound terrible but I think it is human nature to want to watch and see what goes on.  I wouldn't get involved because, I don't like confrontation and I can't fight so I would end up hurt.

I was never around people who fought as a child, my parents rarely fought in fact they still rarely fight it is just not something they do. Tim and I rarely fight and you could count the amount of fights Tim and I have had on one hand with fingers left over.

Tim also doesn't like confrontations so maybe that is one of the reasons we don't fight.

  1. I don't think my neighbors fight. Our neighborhood is quite placid. Willy Dunne Wooters and I disagree sometimes, but we don't really fight.

    1. Yeah my area is also pretty quiet now days and it is nice not to have neighbours going off at each other all the time

  2. I, too don't like confrontation so I rarely fight with anyone. Also, like you, years ago I had words with a neighbor after she came screaming over blaming my child for something. We never spoke after that which was fine with me. Since then I haven't ever had a problem with a neighbor.

I never fight per se with my husband. We don't always agree but we talk it over or agree to disagree...or sometimes we just steer clear of each other until we cool off.

  3. Luckily we don't have neighbours who fight. I whinge about all the barking dogs in the street but I don't like to confront any of their owners.

  4. I'd be eavesdropping because I'm nosy.
We argue, but not as much as we used to back in the day...

  5. First question: Living in an apartment complex, I'd turn them in to management- and have, but fortunately those neighbors are long gone, and none of the ensuing sets have been like that.

Second question: I guess it would depend on the circumstances. Of course, technology makes it easier now, just whip out your phone and shout, I'm calling the cops!

    1. I have never lived in an apartment complex, so that is not an option here, but thankfully most of my neighbours are ok now. Yes with the invention of mobile phones with cameras we can video a fight or ring the cop at the drop of the hat

  6. I do not like confrontations at all. The son of friends of ours was killed trying to break up a fight between two girls, so I'm always leery of that, too.

    1. Yes we hear about people being killed trying to break up fights and when that happens I get so upset as they are trying to help and end up dead, sometimes it pays to just mind your own business and keep out of fights

  7. Nothing is worth getting physically or emotionally beat up over. I don't like it myself but I do know there are people who thrive on it, although most often alcohol or drugs are involved.

    1. Yes grog and drugs make people more likely to fight since the substances help make them feel brave and tough.

  8. I hate confrontation of any sort and luckily our neighbours all seem to get along.
There was a problem in our old street which turned ugly but at least it was shortlived
