Indestructible Stuff

Hello everyone here I am at another Tuesday and that means it is indestructible stuff day and this week it is Graphene which is a natural wonder material that's all around us.

Like diamond, graphene is made of the element carbon but it's a different shape. It is made of incredibly thin layers about one-millionth of the width of a human hair. Because it is only one single atom thick. It is so thin that scientist have only been able to study it close up since 2004.

It can be used to make ultra light weight aircraft, sports gear and armour or body parts. It could make fold-able or wearable computers, electronic paper or super thin tablets.

It could work like a multi functional, lightweight, electronic, natural biodegradable plastic.

However, so far it is proving very difficult to produce and work with so these things are not around just yet.

Graphene is the strongest material ever discovered, it's abput 200 times stronger then steel.

It is used to create the world's lightest material graphene aerogel

It conducts electricity better than any other material

It's tougher then diamond

It's bendy and stretchy too.

  2. Dearest Jo-Anne,
That is completely new to me this Graphene and it sounds like a very promising modern discovery with lots of potential uses!
    Thanks for sharing this.

  4. Sounds like it could be immensely useful if they can figure out how to produce and work with it, which I bet they do.
