Well is is again Tuesday,so it is creature day and today it is the Leichhardt's Grasshopper, another creature I have never heard of.
This grasshopper is an incredibly rare Australian grasshopper long thought extinct until 1971 when it was rediscovered.
It lives in the top end of Australia where it feeds on a special selection of plants.
The
species is named after Ludwig Leichhardt. It is known as alyurr in the Kundjeyhmi language.
The colors are great, but I'm pretty sure I wouldn't want one in my house. Not a big fan of bugs.
ReplyDeleteThey are so colorful! Wow!
ReplyDeletePretty, but I would assume I was drunk if I saw one
