Just some facts

 

Good morning all, how is every one, good and happy with life I hope well it is Monday and the first day of term 4 of school. Monday is also fact day so here we go....................


A Californian discovered the commercial potential of raisins quite by accident. In 1873 a freak hot spell withered the grapes on the vine. One enterprising San Francisco grocer advertised these shrivelled grapes as “Peruvian Delicacies” and the rest is history.


The honeybee kills more people world-wild than all the poisonous snakes put together.


New Year's Day used to be on the 25th March. It was changed to 1st January in 1600 in Scotland and in 1751 in England.


First made at the beginning of the 20th century, lollipops were named after a racehorse of the time,”lolly Pop”....


A hippopotamus can run faster than a human...........

    Honey bees that sting is only deadly to humans with certain allergies so I doubt that they really kill and even more so for outperforming poisonous snakes...
    Sure can a hippo outrun a human!

  2. Goodness, didn't know any of those facts.
    Bees sure can kill if allergic to them and in a short time with people having anaphylactic shocks. My mum always carried her pills incase she was bitten.

  3. I didn't know any of these either! I know someone with a severe bee allergy; she always carries 2 vials/injections with her, just in case.

  4. All very interesting.
    I've always wondered why the new year starts in the middle of the winter or summer depending on where you live and not during the change of the seasons...which indicates more a "new" year arriving.
