More About My Birthday But The Not So Good Parts.......

Here is the thing last week I turned 50 and I could write about how great it was and how I got so many great presents, but this is not a post about the good things that happened on my birthday nope it’s a post about the things that sucked and I am not talking about turning 50 that didn’t bother me…………

What I am talking about is that on my birthday I was silly and expected Tim to come home from work and take me out for tea (dinner) but no he didn’t feel like going out, about 5 minutes after he got home I went to talk to him and asked him what we were doing for tea and he shrugged and said he didn’t know, I said I thought we might have done something nice since it was a special day and he just shrugged again, in the end we ordered pizza well pizza for him as I don’t eat pizza any more I had chessy garlic bread and some so so hot chips………….so that sucked…………

Now I didn’t expect a party because let’s be honest unless I arrange it, it doesn’t happen but I did ask for a baked lunch at my parents place on the Sunday and that was ok my sister Jeannie came which was great and a couple of nieces Sam & Tina……………..However only one of my daughters (Jessica) turned up Kathy-Lee was very tired and my granddaughter Sydney-May was feeling sick so they didn’t come but I could tell that Kathy felt bad about not going so I said I was alright with her not coming but of course I really wasn’t then there is my daugher Natasha she didn’t come either. She told mum that she didn’t know about the lunch but I know I mentioned it to her and she had told me she would be there, anyway we have had lunches at my parents place to celebrate family members birthdays for as long as she has been alive so she should had know ………….did she ask anyone if they were doing anything for my birthday…………..NO…………

Now every year I have hinted and by hinted said I want a cake but I never get one anyway this year I didn’t say anything about a cake and guess what I STILL DIDN’T GET A CAKE…………yeah no cake again this year…….

I did get a lot of great presents from my family including a trip to New Zealand from my husband Tim but I have not got a present from Natasha as yet but that shouldn’t come as a surprise she sucks at giving presents…………….

My sister Sue also didn’t turn up for my birthday lunch and that was upsetting, she had told mum she wasn’t ready to face the family but hell she has seen everyone but our brother Dave and if she waits till Dave forgets what she said to mum she will be an old woman when that happens…………

So all in all I had a good birthday with some dissapointments but hell I guess that is life…………

  1. That is a sad story. I think you should tell them how disappointed you are that they didn't care to help you celebrate such an important birthday. Let them know how you feel.

    1. I don't see the point in trying to explain how I feel, I know Tim doesn't get it and I don't think my daugher would get it either.......

  3. I can imagine how disappointed you were by certain daughters and sisters not turning up, and Tim really should have known better. After all, it was a very special birthday. I don't know, you do so much for your family, and I know you love them dearly, but they should have put a bit more thought into this for you. No cake - that really does suck!!

    1. All Tim would say is I am taking you to New Zealand isn't that good enough, he has a way of trying to twist it round and make me feel like I am in the wrong

  4. Dearest Jo-Anne,
You ARE the most caring wife, mother and grandmother I know☆☆☆
So sorry about these disappointment!!! And I would certainly get crossed with my husband if he reacted like that on such a special day.
Well, I feel so sorry for my absence. Visiting father (he is ok at the moment) and husband finding things he can do some things inside of our old house like painting the rails. Needs me to fetch things and all p;)
Lots of love and hugs from sis-city in Japan, xoxo Miyako*

  5. We can't control what other people do, so enjoy your wonderful trip to NZ (I'm still trying not to be jealous!). Your family members will probably be feeling some guilt, too~

I know your feeling--it sucks to have a birthday pass unnoticed. That happens to me pretty much every year.

  7. Once upon a time I would put signs up at work: "Chris' birthday tommorow- bring gifts." That never worked either.

  8. My life tends to be a series of disappointments, so I know how you feel. Next year please remind me about two weeks before your birthday, and I swear I will try to find a way to get you that cake.

  9. Jo-Anne, I am so sorry and this makes me know I need to remember my parents birthdays better. But growing up, we never really celebrated birthdays--we were so poor, we usually couldn't, but that was a good reason. It was easier just to let it pass. But it seems like no matter what, we can do something special...even a homemade card is so nice. I hope you found that indulgences email. Let me know. Email me because I paid for it and I want to make sure you get it. Can you call them? You might need a good treatment after your NZ trip. I think you are a wonderful person. Don't be sad. I will be your american daughter ok? If you say ok, it's a deal. :-) And then I won't forget your birthday.

  10. I just realized you are only 12 years older than me so it seems funny to have you as my australian mom. Haha! Maybe you can be my aunt!! Haha! I don't care. It's all online so it's doesn't matter. Maybe someday I can come visit you and I will bring a cake. No matter when it is. :-) I always wanted to go to australia.

  11. darlin that's just AWFUL, you need to sit em all down and explain the facts of life and i would show em how awful it felt by returning the favor. it's disrespectful to mistreat your mama, they should know how lucky they are to have you..........VERY hot button topic for me as my mama passed when i was 8. gimme their emails and i'll tell em what for GGGGRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

  14. I don't get my birthday celebrated... Long story..No one remembers about my birthday, including myself. Now that is something interesting right?
Men are great in forgetting the important dates. So, next time why don't we all forget about our husbands' birthdays? I know it is difficult for me, because he is an April Fool.
