Car Insurance Important or Not So Much

What a few bloody hot days we have had here, summer is supposed to be over but it hasn’t felt like it the last few days had to have the air cons going all day and half the night. This weekend we had Leo here Friday night and last night we had Blain here, most of the times I don’t mind having them here but every now and again I feel why or why do I always say yes………..

Anyway let’s move onto something more interesting ok maybe not that interesting but different none the less……………….

This afternoon got a couple of quotes for Kathy for insurance for the new car they have as at the moment it isn’t insured well it doesn’t have comprehensive insurance and this is something that me and Tim both feel is important not just if they are in an accident but what if the car is stolen. Anyway she can get insurance with Bingle: http://www.bingle.com.au/ for only $450 or $46 a month, yeah I know it is a no frills insurance company but sometimes you have to go no frills it is better than having no insurance at all.

Now I don’t know what is like in other countries but here in Australia you do not have to have comprehensive insurance if you own the car ie: no finance on the car, of course you have to have CTP (Compulsory Third Party Insurance) before you can register any motor vehicle and the cost of your CTP is pretty much the same no matter what company you go with…….

Anyway I was only saying to Natasha today that if she didn’t have her car insured she would really upset if she was in an accident or if the car was stolen, she said she didn’t know if she could afford to reinsure her car but when I said she could pay in monthly and that she should be able to afford she changed her mind. Her insurance would be $30 something a month and she should be able to afford to pay that.

  1. I don't think many people like to pay insurance because you can't see anything for it. It's handy to have incase something happens to the vehicle, at least it helps to have money from the insurance company.

    1. I agree and the fact that it cost so much extra for a parent to have their child listed as a driver deters people from doing it.......

  3. I'm taking it you aren't required by law to carry insurance, as we are?

  4. I certainly think that insurance is very important. We are required by law to have it over here in Great Britain. There is no choice! You've got the heat, and we've still got bitterly cold weather over here. So much for Spring!

    1. We can't get rego without Compulsory Third Party Insurance but other insurance is optional

  5. To register a car in Florida, one must have insurance. However, that does not stop people from registering the car and then canceling the insurance. I would not be without insurance, and I get a good rate from Allstate. I've been with them for years.

  6. Here in the US we also don't have to carry comprehensive coverage. We always have but I think some people drop down to just liability if their car gets old enough that it would be cheaper to buy a different car than pay for the extra insurance.

    1. I always wondered about that sometimes while watching shows like Judge Judy it comes across as if you have to have comprehensive insurance.

  7. Our CTP is included in our rego so you cant register a car with out paying insurance.
As for comprehensive, if the car is of a reasonable value then I think it is a must.
Even a cheapy I would put 3rd party fire and theft on
