Fact Day

Hello Monday, hello world...........

How is life treating you?

The names of all the continents end with the same letter they start with.

The longest stairway in the world is the service stairway for the Niesenbahn funicular railway near Spiez in Switzerland, it has 11,674 steps.

The celebration of Christmas was banned in Boston from 1659 to 1681, anyone showing Christmas spirit was fined five shillings. The pilgrims thought it was a decadent and ungodly celebration.

The Vatican is the world's smallest country at 0.44 square kilometres or 0.16 square miles.

Earth is the densest planet in the solar system.

Just another week in my life

Another sleep in till 7.30ish, after my morning wash I was getting dressed when Kathy rang and to tell me there block of land now says sold.

Last night at 11pm we were woken up by Leo outside he needed nighttime medication I got up and found some for him.

When I got up I found a cup of noodles and a note on my desk asking me to ring Coles and let them know that the cup's lid was half opened even though the plastic around the noodles was intact. I rang and they credit us the $1.60 to come off our next order.

Kelli & her kids turned up at round midday she helped me do the medication which was good.

Kelli had a fright as the boys where suppose to be watching her and she ran off up the driveway and Kelli had to run after her. This gave Kelli a right fright, she ended up having a cry.

Jess & Kelli got KFC for lunch I didn't want any.

Awake with the alarm again to another bloody cold morning, cold enough for 2 pair of socks on my feet.

Leo came over at 7.35 but had to go home again as he forgot his school pants.

I am shaking so bloody much today.

Tim home at 2pm a short day.

I was on the phone to mum when my alarm for Leo went off and in 5 mins Leo walked into his house and Tasha rang to tell me he was home much earlier then expected. My chat to mum was cut short.

Tasha made rissoles and chips for tea which was nice.

Another day, still cold, not raining and of course I got up at 6.15 when the alarm went off. Tasha came and helped me dress, yes I can dress myself but it takes ages when I have help it takes a couple of minutes.

At around 1.30 Tasha summoned me to her house to see a car parked on her front lawn. It is her new car a 2012 Toyota Camry Atara, it is grey in colour.

Tim arrived home around the same time, his new phone arrived and it has a cracked screen, so he is doing an online chat with Ebay. Turned out he had the wrong Ebay account, I checked my computer book but nope nothing there to help. He changes passwords and stuff so often he forgets what they are.

Jess arrived and helped him I don't know what the outcome was.

I woke at 5.15 when Tim was getting ready for work. I was unable to go back to sleep at 5.45 I turned the heater on to warm the room before I got dressed. I am wearing tight black leggings because everything else is on the line.

Tim heard from Ebay, they said the add said sold as is, so he is stuffed. I will find out more tomorrow.

Tasha has brought down Blain's school assignments for me to look at which I will do tomorrow.

I was surprised when the alarm went off I slept all night not waking at all.

Tim was still asleep so I checked what time he started which was 8am. so I got dressed in the bathroom.

It has been a warm day and I have done nothing all day answered another 2 letters.

The alarm went off and I thought all ready, it felt like a short night because I slept through.

I have been lucky to see Kelli & Jonathon and of course Freya, Daemon is at school. I don't see Jono very often but I do like it when I do.

Jessica will come over and helped me get ready for me while Tasha drives Blain to his fathers.

It has been a pretty warm day.

No sleep in this morning I woke at 6.25 and got up and after I peed I head out to the kitchen and found Tasha in the laundry putting on a load of washing.

Kathy & the girls came over and while Kathy showered me the girls went over to see Leo.

After Kathy & Syd & Leo helped Natasha cut back the tree in her front yard.

Jessica at work all day doing a wine tour.

Poem Day

Don't Go Far Off, Not Even For A Day

Pablo Neruda

By Pablo Neruda More Pablo Neruda

Don't go far off, not even for a day, because --
because -- I don't know how to say it: a day is long
and I will be waiting for you, as in an empty station
when the trains are parked off somewhere else, asleep.

Don't leave me, even for an hour, because
then the little drops of anguish will all run together,
the smoke that roams looking for a home will drift
into me, choking my lost heart.

Oh, may your silhouette never dissolve on the beach;
may your eyelids never flutter into the empty distance.
Don't leave me for a second, my dearest,

because in that moment you'll have gone so far
I'll wander mazily over all the earth, asking,
Will you come back? Will you leave me here, dying?

Thermococcus

Hello everyone I am here, restless and feeling like I can't stand or sit still. Anyway I am moving on from indestructible plants to other indestructible stuff such as Thermococcus, heard of it, nope me neither......

They're micro-organisms, tiny single cell creatures that we can only see through a microscope and the Thermococcus is the toughest.

Thermococcus is one of a group of tiny, single celled living things known as archaea and it likes a hot bath...........

They are found in water so hot it would scald a person to death in seconds. They are happiest in smoking hot hydro-thermal vents at the bottom of the sea or hot springs close to volcanoes, where the water is typically between 80-100 degrees Celsius or 176-212 Fahrenheit......That is bloody hot

One type of Thermococcus called Thermococcus Gammatolerans can withstand high doses of radiation such as the deadly stuff given off by radioactive substances or nuclear explosions. In fact this micro-organism an cope with 6000 times more radiation than it would take to kill a human.

Facts

Good morning, another cold day here in Newie and another day for facts about stuff.

The main library at Indiana University sinks over an inch each year because when it was built, the engineers failed to take into account the weight of the books that would be stored there.

The “Flower of Kent” is a large green-skinned apple variety, and is thought to have been the kind that hit Sir Isaac Newton on the head, prompting him to explore the theory og gravity.

The French are believed to eat as much as 40,000 metric tons of snails each year.

Snails have been eaten as food since at least ancient Roman times, in the oldest surviving cook book there was a recipe for snails.

Once the famous Italian Opera singer Luciano Pavarotti was once applauded for one hour seventeen minutes. I find that hard to believe.

Another week that was

I had a sleep in this morning 8am I got up Tasha had already been down and put a load of washing on.

Jess & Tash went over to help Jade and Leo when he got up came over here.

Saw Kelli when she dropped of Blain.

Freya is so damn cute

Been a busy day with washing and ironing, vacuuming out as well as packing and unpacking dishwasher.

The move is pretty much done & dusted

I woke just before the alarm and got up when it went off, as I was getting dressed Tasha came and got my breakfast ready.

At 7.10 Leo walked in took his school clothes and went to his room to dress for school. When I asked about his mum he said she was still sleeping.

At 11am a delivery man arrived with packages for Jess, I sent him to her unit, telling him she only moved there over the weekend.

Sandy rang me at 9ish to let me know that mum wasn't good sue found her crying and rang Sandy who found her a little confused and not with it. Leigh went over to check her out and thinks she may have “uti' and was arranging antibiotics.

When mum rang me she was fine and sounded like herself.

Up with my alarm and felt like I wash shaking all over, managed to have my morning wash and was getting dressed when Tasha arrived.

Jess came and said bye before leaving and Leo arrived around 15 mins later.

Leo left his school bag at his house and had to get the key from Tash in order to get it.

Tim home early at 2pm

Mum was ok when we spoke just like normal, no confusion at all today.

Downloaded another book through Lake Mac library but it wouldn't let me open Borrow Box for Lake Mac it keeps defaulting to Newcastle Library which is so annoying. I will try and sort it out tomorrow.

I didn't feel like getting up this morning but of curse I did and while dressing Tasha turned up and helped me apply spray oil to my legs as they are drying out and the spray is hard to spray so difficult I can't do it.

Leo came over at 7.50, he rang me at 7 and said his mum wanted me to ring him at 7.10 which I did but as we talked I said I would ring him again when it was time to get ready which I did.

Tim was home from 9.30 to 1pm another split shift.

Leo came home in a down mood, he went straight home to do chores before his Xbox.

It has been a long ass day.

I got up as usual, just didn't feel like it but can't stay in bed all day.

Leo rang and asked when he had to be here, I told him and he said to give him an extra 5 minutes for breakfast.

Around 2pm Jess goes out to go to work and heard a strange noise so she checked the work van over and discovered the back window was smashed. What the hell.........

So she rings work to inform them but they already knew the lawn mowing people did it with a wayward stone. However, we all felt they should have knocked on her door and told her in person. This mob seem a bit reckless, they often leave a mess, Tasha rang the DoH and lodged a complaint.

Jess had to take the van into work to be repaired.

Leo in a good mood this afternoon.

I got up as usual, just didn't feel like it but can't stay in bed all day.

Leo in a good mood this afternoon.

Another cold day, alarm went off and my first thought was already time to get up. Read a message from Jess about the van it is being repaired today sometime the lawn people are paying for it.

Leo this morning had a fight with his school pants none of them felt/fitted right so he threw them across his room and asked if he could wear his track pants, I said sure.

My left knee is unstable this afternoon feels like it will give way at any step.

Jess is helping me get ready for bed

Leo didn't have the best of days trouble with bullies.

I had a bit of a sleep in, getting up at 7am Tim is here and helped me dress for the day.

Getting groceries delivered mine & Jess's, Jess paid for delivery .

It is a bloody cold morning.

Groceries arrived at 10.20, just as Tim got back from the Chemist and Tasha also arrived with stuff for me.

Kathy & Michael arrived around 1ish and Kathy showered me while Tim & Michael went and removed the air con from the house in Gateshead. That didn't take long.

Been a bloody cold day.

Thursday's Words

Hello world, well it's Thursday so it is time for a poem as someone pointed out last week I haven't said what site I find these poems well I will fix that today by adding the site to the post. It is: https://www.familyfriendpoems.com/poem/why-i-love-my-sister

The Importance of a Sister

BY: Shiv Sharma

A sister is someone who loves you from the heart.

No matter how much you argue, you cannot be drawn apart.
She is a joy that cannot be taken away.
Once she enters your life, she is there to stay.

A friend who helps you through difficult times,
Her comforting words are worth much more than dimes.
A partner who fills your life with laughs and smiles,
These memories last for miles and miles.

When she is by your side, the world is filled with life.
When she is not around, your days are full of strife.
A sister is a blessing who fills your heart with love.
She flies with you in life with the beauty of a dove.

A companion to whom you can express your feelings,
She doesn't let you get bored at family dealings.
Whether you are having your ups or downs,
She always helps you with a smile and never frowns.

With a sister, you cannot have a grudge.
She is as sweet as chocolate and as smooth as fudge.
Having a sister is not just a trend.
It is knowing you can always turn to her, your best friend.

Carers

Well here we are at Wednesday and today's topic is carers........

These are my thoughts and not directed at anyone person just a generalisation of carers and how they should be acting.

Do you know what a carer is?

Do you have a carer?

Are you a carer?

I have a carer my daughter Tasha is my official carer not my husband this is because Tim works full time is often working when I am in need of help.

I can no longer shower myself or wash my own hair, I can have a bubble bath, if someone is here to help me dry off and get dressed.

I can fix my self sandwiches and toast or boiled eggs and of course a bowl of ice cream. I can not cook myself any food, I also can not drive anywhere or go shopping.

My daughter/carer is only 30 seconds away and comes whenever I text or ring help arriving sometimes before I am finished talking.

She does all the shopping or other tasks I ask her to do.

If you accept the position of carer, you need to be there caring not saying ask this or that person to do what has been requested. This is ok once in a blue moon, but not something you say most of the time.

You need to be available to bathe the person in your care at least once a week if not more.

Even if the person you care for has a person come in to clean and change the sheets once a week or fortnight they may still need you their carer to do some household chores for them without hearing the annoyance in your voice or seeing you roll your eyes because you are too busy to do what is requested.

Now if a carer isn't being paid and is caring as an act of love not always being there is ok, if however, they are paid they need to be there. Do not accept payment if your own life is so busy you are unable to be there when needed.

IIronwood Trees

Good afternoon all, how is life treating you, I am still staying home doing nothing much at all watching much except the usual. Well it's Tuesday and that means it is plant day and today's plant is the Ironwood. In fact many types of trees are called ironwood because of how heavy their wood is, in fact some are so dense that they are actually heavier then water and sink.

The heaviest of all is thought to be the Australian Buloke, with the heaviest being the black ironwood and the desert ironwood from Central America and the southern United States.

Ironwoods are brilliant at resisting dents and knocks making them perfect for wooden floors and the handles of tools. They can however still be cut with a saw because a saw works by scraping away the wood a tiny bit at a time.

Wood has its own special scale of hardness called the Janka scale. it measures hoe much force is needed to blast a metal ball into the wood.

To give you an idea of the scale, super-soft balsa wood has a rating of 100. Pine wood which is often used for furniture and floorboards has a rating of between 500-600. The Aussie Buloke has a rating of 5060

Another week that was

I got up at 7.20am and got dressed with some help from Leo getting my socks on.

Tim is at work and Jess will get Leo around 11.30am

Kelli picked up Leo just after 11 and Jess turned up with Leo around 12.30. I had to give her some Catapress for Leo for the week

Leo is staying the night he asked and I said yes.

Mum was ok didn't talk f or long as her pizza was there, I would not pay $40 for pizza but since it's what Dawson wants so they get it.

Monday morning cold and wet got dressed in the bathroom with the heater on.

Leo up at 7.10 am when his Papa went in to say bye before he left for work. I always have trouble waking him Tim goes in says he is leaving for work and Leo is up and hugging him goodbye. Papa isn't allowed to leave before giving Leo a hug.

It has rained on and off all day I went up to meet Leo only to have to leave before he arrived as it started to rain again and Tasha had to go get him.

Dr Murray finally rang Jess I hope to hear more tomorrow about the call

I woke with the alarm again, turned the heater on in the bedroom while I opened the house and had my morning visit to the loo followed by my wash. I then got dressed in the bedroom. Tasha arrived while I was getting dressed.

I tossed a load of washing into the machine

At 2ish Tasha had to take Blain to hospital as the pain in his gut got so bad and she is worried it may be appendicitis.

At 4ish Tasha rang and told Jess that her and Jade sign the new leases on Thursday at 2pm. She is so very happy.

Leo is of course here tonight.

Up with my alarm as per usual found Tim already up, opened the front door so Tasha would know I was up. She turned up as I was getting dressed and helped me dress.

At 10.30 I go in to clean the bath after I sprayed it with cleaner and my left knee gave out and I fell trying to get the shower hose down to use.

I had my mobile hanging around my neck and straight away rang Tasha but she wasn't home. She was at Jessica's but she rang Blain to check on me and he didn't answer his phone.

Jessica & Jade have started packing and moving stuff.

Seems Leo is here for the night but no one told me.

Another day here going to be a warmer day thankfully top of 22 degrees.

Jess & Jade sign the leases this afternoon.

Saw Kelli, Vaughan and Freya while she was dropping off stuff from Jess house. Work lent her a van with a lift making it easier to move stuff.

I found out that Leo is here till the move is done and dusted.

Been a really warm day temp at 22 degrees

Tim came home after his morning shift and helped move stuff and he took a trailer load to the tip, before he returned to work this afternoon.

Friday at last, I woke when Tim got up but stayed in bed till 6am , I was getting dressed when Tasha turned up.

No banana bread this morning so made choc chip pikelets

I had a couple of boiled eggs for brunch.

This afternoon it rained and I was unable to go and meet Leo, however, Jade went and met him for me.

Jessica helped me get ready for bed.

Had a sleep in till 8am, however at 3am I got up to pee and felt really nauseous so bad that I went to the laundry and got an empty 2lt ice cream tub to have next to the bed just in case.

Since being up I have felt ok not great just ok.

Kathy & the girls came over and she gave me a shower after that I was attempting to make pikelets for breakfast and I was struggling so called for help and by the third call I started to sound whinny which made Kathy speak in a condescending tone which upset me more.

Inside my house it's crowded and messy with Jess stuff,d the floor needs vacuuming

I ordered pizza but first I asked Tash, Jess & Leo if the wanted any, they didn't.

I tried to help move stuff from mine to Jess using the scooter and I ran over Jess hurting her legs/feet. I naturally felt awful

New Neighbours

Hello everyone, as you are aware I do not post on Fridays but I am today posting nothing much but none of my posts are something much, just saying................

We are getting new neighbours looking straight out my front door you see a brick wall which is the wall of unit 15 and that's the unit getting new neighbours, this unit is opposite Natasha. The new occupants are single mother and her 12yr old son they swapped with the woman who was there also a single mother with a young daughter who has disabilities and need a home with a bath tub for her daughter.

They signed new leases yesterday and have been busy moving the last few days.

Of course our new neighbours are Jessica & Leo.

Most children grow up and move away from mum and dad which my did but now in their early 30 two of my girls have moved back to live in the same complex as mum & dad. Mum & Dad aka Me & Papa thrilled.

Daughter number one is a little envious but her life is going in a different and equally exciting path which I am unable to discuss here.

This Is A Daily Reminder

© Nicolette

This is a daily reminder
To relax,
To not get angry over small things,
To stay calm.

This is a daily reminder
To be yourself,
To not care what people think,
To know you can be anything.

This is a daily reminder
To love yourself,
To not hurt yourself,
To not work yourself up.

This is a daily reminder
That you are beautiful,
That you are amazing,
That you will succeed.

This is a daily reminder
To always have hope,
To have faith,
To know everything will be okay.

This is a daily reminder
That you have made it so far already,
That you haven't given up,
That whatever you're doing is right,
And that you are going to be amazing.

Don't give up.
Keep holding on and believing.

Plant Day

Hello Tuesday you're dry and coldish but not overly cold, well this Tuesday the plant I am going to tell you a bit about Bamboo every man and his dog has heard of bamboo.

Some may think it is a type of tree but no it's not it is a type of grass, yeah grass, of course we think of all the things it is used for, things like chopping boards, baskets, bridges and houses and is used as scaffolding in some countries such as Hong Kong.

China has around 500 different species of bamboo which is around 40% of all the known species in the world.

The thick strong stalks of bamboo are hollow tubes this makes it very strong, light and flexible. Its tensile strength that means strength when pulled is similar to that of steel and its strength when squeezed or pressed is greater than concrete.

Some species can grow to be 40 metres or 130ft tall and can grow as much as 1 metre or 35 inches in just one day, this makes it the world's fastest growing plant.

Monday is fact day

What a lovely cold and wet day here in my part of the world hasn't stop raining since I got up, had to get Tasha to take Leo up to the top of the driveway. Well here ate this weeks facts true or not I do not know but here we go anyway.

Chop Suey is a very famous Chinese dish but it was invented by chefs in an American restaurant.

Sweet & Sour sauce another Chinese favourite doesn't exist in China, it was created by Chinese chefs living in the UK for the sweet tooth British, after they noticed their liking for tomato sauce aka ketchup.

The Academy Award stature “Oscar”is named after a librarian's uncle. One day Margaret Herrick a librarian for the for motion picture arts and sciences commented that the statue looked like her Uncle Oscar and the name stuck.

Another week in the life of Jo-Anne

I woke at 6 to go and pee but when I got back into bed I couldn't breath so I went to find my Vicks nasal stick to unblock my nose so I could breath but couldn't fine it so I got up instead.

Another bloody cold morning.'

The internet is out it says that I am connected by no access. Which is bloody annoying.

When I spoke to mum she was for the most part good repeated herself a bit as per usual but I didn't say anything.

Tim at last picked up the boots from mum's place.

This morning I got dressed in the bedroom as Tim was already at work another cold star to the day. Tasha turned up to get my breakfast stuff ready while I was getting dressed.

More internet problems connected but no not working.

Internet started working 90 minutes after it stopped.

Blain had his blood test and breath test for asthma without any problem.

Tim home by 1.45pm an early day for him although he did start at 4.30am.

Again I woke when Tim got up and got out of bed as he was leaving at 6am, Tasha came and helped get my breakfast and put my socks on for me.

At 9am Tim got home for a while as he has another split shift he will leave at 1.30pm

At 11am I started to feel very tired and unable to concentrate so I went to bed for a bit. A bit turned out to be 2hrs.

I have been both cold and so hot on and off all afternoon.

Leo was early this afternoon arriving just after I got to the t op of the driveway.

Leo here tonight.

Tim's alarm went off at 6 and mine at 6.13ch is when I got up turned the heater on then Tasha turned up to throw in a load of washing, she then helped me dress.

I empty the recycle bins and vacuumed out

Kathy rang to check up on me it was nice talking to her.

Tasha said the Dept of Housing has approved Jessica's and Jay's housing swap, this is great news. Then they turn around and say Jess can't move into Jay's as it is for people with mobility problems.

Jessica remembered that Leo has Ehlers Danlos Syndrome, so Jess emailed Dr Murray about getting a letter saying that.

I am annoyed and frustrated for Jess & Jay

Up just before the alarm went off at 6.13am I turned on the bedroom heater and the lounge-room heater on as well.

Tasha came down and helped me get ready for the day. Had to get her to help me with a singlet because my chest felt tight.

It heated up as the day wore on, mum rang me at 11.30 she was feeling lonely and wanted someone to talk to, so we chatted for an hour.

After Leo got home I had a bath while drying off mum rang again and we chatted for another half hour.

Tasha & Jade are appealing the decision about the house swap on the grounds that Leo has Ehlers Danlos Syndrome .

Jess said she wouldn't be fighting it if it wasn't for Jade & Tasha.

Tasha does all the talking on Jess's behalf We have to print and fill in more forms.

A new day same old problems more phone calls from Tasha to people about Jess & Jades swap.

I was waiting with Leo this morning when it started to rain and Leo made me come back inside, he was worried about the scooter getting wet.

Kathy came and took me to see dad in the wet weather we took the wheelchair with us to make it easier for me to get around after seeing dad we went to Warners Bay Plaza for me to go to Hot Bargain just to have a look around.

By the time I got home I was in a state and had a smoke while I got myself together.

The first thing Tasha said when she heard was I hope you didn't go to Charlestown Square.

Blain got sent home from school as he was throwing up again.

I have been feeling really tired since 2pm I can barely keep my eyes opened.

I woke at 7.40 after sleeping all night didn't get dressed just had my morning wash an waited till Kathy arrived to give me a shower at 9am.

Tim went and had his fasting blood test done and he picked up the shopping while out.

Spoke to mum and she sounded ok although she did repeat herself a lot .

Jess rang and asked if Leo could stay the night while she went out to visit Kelli & Jay at Kelli's of course I said he could.

Mum rang again while I was getting ready for bed, I will ring her back in the morning.

Thursday's Words

We Wear The Mask

By Paul Laurence Dunbar

We wear the mask that grins and lies,

It hides our cheeks and shades our eyes,—
This debt we pay to human guile;
With torn and bleeding hearts we smile,
And mouth with myriad subtleties.

Why should the world be over-wise,
In counting all our tears and sighs?
Nay, let them only see us, while
We wear the mask.

We smile, but, O great Christ, our cries
To thee from tortured souls arise.
We sing, but oh the clay is vile
Beneath our feet, and long the mile;
But let the world dream otherwise,
We wear the mask!

Lichen Plant Day

Add caption

Hello world, how is everyone this cold Aussie morning, Leo is at school and Tim is home till 1.30 as he has a split shift.

It is plant day and today's plant is Lichen, heard of it, it's a pretty tough plant with it's only weakness acid and being eaten.

They don't need soil, they set up home on all kinds of surfaces such as rocks, trees, walls, metal, statues, soil and old bones and even old dried out poo, yeah you read that right.

They can even survive extreme cold, drought and heat, so they are found in deserts and high mountains including around the poles, as well as everywhere else.

However, acid rain containing chemicals from pollution can damage them.

They are actually made up of two creatures living together, a fungus and another type of living thing such as algae or bacteria. They can make food using sunlight as plants do.

The fungus surrounds the algae or bacteria and protects them from cold, heat and drying out. It also soaks up water from its surroundings. Inside the algae or bacteria use sunlight to make food which is shared with the fungus.
