Hello everyone, here we are at Monday again and so here are some facts.
In ancient Rome no one was allowed to leave a theatre while Emperor Nero was singing. A favourite escape plan for reluctant listeners was to pretend to be dead and be carried out by doctors.
Donald Westerholt was jailed for 50 years in Houston, Texas in January 1983 for shoplifting a pair of shoes worth $20.
In the 1350's doctors treating patients in plague-hospitals use to shout instructions from the street. As there was no cure and doctors were too frightened to go near the infected.
“Spooky” a blue Russian cat and “George” a Boston Terrier were the first animals in America to be fitted with prescription contact lenses.
In 1995, fifteen iguanas were accidentally out to sea on a raft of water-logged trees. They travelled over 200 miles from Guadeloupe to Anguilla in the Caribbean arriving safely.
50 years?? Was it overturned? Maybe he had done something else they couldn't get him on.
ReplyDeleteThe emperor must have been a really bad singer for people willing to pretend death! Contact lens on a cat and dog brings so many questions. Did they have to change them daily? How hard would it be to get an animal to be still while you pluck that lens out? Mine complain when we cut their toenails!
ReplyDeleteI enjoy reading your fun facts.
ReplyDeleteI thought the same as Kathy, that Nero must have been a terrible singer. LOL.
ReplyDeleteI didn't even know any animals had ever had contact lenses. The challenges to that are a bit mind-boggling.
And as Sandi commented, 50 years is a long time for shoplifting. There must be more to that story!
Was Nero doing duets with Yoko Ono?
ReplyDeleteSandi.......I know, talk about stiff
ReplyDeleteKathy.......Yeah can't see how the cats or dogs would handle contacts
